Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any advice on the Samick Talon 62", 55# Recurve. www.archeryshop.com.au/p/25103/samick-talon.html (http://www.archeryshop.com.au/p/25103/samick-talon.html) i have been told it is a decent bow but want furthur advice. they (the two i am buying, one for me and the other for me mate) will be used for hunting (duh) and used regularily. i was also wanting to know about what sight i should use. i currently have a 30# Cherokee recurve that has lasted 4.5 yrs. it has no sight on it and for almost 5yrs i have been shooting instinctivley. i tried my mates 50# compound (dunno what brand) and found that my bow compared to his was an absolute piece of CRAP. anyway, this bow will be my first real step up and i wanted to make it a good one. any advice is appreciated.

cheers, Jake

My last recurve was a Samick Talon 62" @ 60#.

Excellent bow for the money.

I don't use sights on my recurves so I can't help with a recommendation.

You really can't compare recurve/long bow with the compounds there is too much difference.

If you are looking for absolute accuracy then you will be disappointed with any trad bow until you have put a few years into developing consistant form.

That was my Recurve option. this is my thought for the compound

Dunno what one to go with though. i would like both, but i don't know what my parents would say if i got 2 packages in the mail (paid for by me of course!!)

The pic on the website shows wood finished limbs, though I am pretty sure the Talon has plain black. Curiously... the adseems to show a list price of $245 crossed out with a special price of $250

Are you left or right handed.... I have a barely used LH Talon...

he buzz, i am a leftie but shoot right handed (go figure) and i didn't know which bow was better. The PSE Impala or the Samick Talon, so i ordered both. whichever one my mate doesn't like il take (probably the Impala). anyway, i decided that the compound while being accurate was no where near as fun to shoot as the recurves!!!.

Ah, close but no cigar, I could have saved you a bucket of money. Oh well.

Enjoy.

Hey guys. Getting back into hunting again. Most of my time was spent chasing after dogs but did a bit of bowhunting with a few mates yrs ago. Looking for a take down recurve that would suit a 28-29" draw. I would appreciate any feedback and advice. I am starting to realise that I may need to get fit again and I may as well do something that I enjoy as well as being outdoors exploring new country. I grew up in Cairns and most of my hunting was around the cane paddocks at nite with dogs and knives. I'm currently working in Mt Isa for another 3-4mths and am eager to do some hunting up this way. Cheers..
