G'day all I just arrived home from a hunt to a new property an hour and a half drive from my place here in SA. He had told me he had some goats but not very many. On the first day I walked along a range that looked like it would hold goats but I only found 3. I stalked up on them as they were feeding down in between some cliffs and came out above them and shot the lead black nanny through the shoulders with one of woodies supremes (first time trying them). The other two ran to 5m and I put another arrow through her shoulders. The arrow zipped through and them punched through an old cactus and were lost over the ridge. These are the goats.

That afternoon I decided to go for a walk out the other end of the property in some lower smoother hills and yep guess what goats. about 20 of them I got to within 15m but they saw me and took off before a shot was presented. So that made tomorrows plans easy I was coming back here.

The next day i was off at about 8 and at the hills i wanted to be by 830. And guess what about 40 off goats sitting in the same spot as the say before. well i stalked up but yet again they saw me and took off. i followed them out the back of the hills a bit more and it ended looking down on a huge flat gully full of black oaks. I came across a lone nanny and my brother with the video camera rolling I managed to get to 10m and punch an arrow through her shoulders, she went down within 30m. I didnĂ*t get a pic because my camera's batteries were getting flat but got it on video so it was ok. My bro and I sat down for a break looking down on the big valley and notices a lot of little coloured dots scattered all over the valley. We could have counted a hundred off just from there. Well that was it we were off, and it wasnĂ*t long before we were stalking a mob about 40 strong in the oaks along a creek bed. They managed to get wind of us and take off but there were a few Billies that were out on their own and when they tried catching up to the mob we sat in their path and had the mob of 6 run past us at 5m. I picked out a nice skinned goat, shot and dropped him with a heart shot. The supreme travelled through the goat and lodged into a tree 50m behind still keeping the same angle. Here is the goat.

We then walked along the creek some more and commented how nice it was to be out those bloody hills and in the shade of these black oaks. When we came across some more goats lots of them but we just walked past because they were only nannies. We were on a mission to rid him of goats but I had an arrow limit and wanted billies. We rounded a small bank and saw a Billy standing on his own, in the middle of the creek. we stopped on the spot caught out in the open but he walked up the bank and turned to face us. He stood there for about 20 seconds and started walking towards us. When he was about 50m I drew because that was the last chance to get his head behind some bushes. He kept coming 40...35...30...25 and propped to eat a bush broadside. I thought I can hold this back any longer and took the shot. It was a tad low just grazing the heart and took another shot to put it down for keeps. Here's the billy.http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b255/Mackadebowhunter/P7280043.jpg
It was about 12 and we had to get back by 2 so we decided to quicken our pace a bit and another 100m down the creek line we came across a big mob of about 50 goats. There was no time for a proper stalk so I just crouched over and walked at them using all the cover I could, I made it to 30m and saw a young white Billy. As I drew back the wind picked up and out the corner of my eye as I released the arrow had just lifted off the rest and just clipped the arse of the goat giving him a shave and a scare. He trotted and propped 5m on, BIG mistake this arrow flew true and he was down. On the walk back we saw heaps more goats but had no time to chase them. All shots were passthroughs and I love the bowtech and Supremes! I think this place will get revisited!

This is the white Billy.

Thanks guys :D Adam these goats he didnĂ*t know about and sounds like he is going to give them a muster they have come in from the neighbouring property but for now I am free to shoot them. We didnĂ*t see anything really much over 30 inch so it looks like these goats have been picked mustered at one stage. Humph the Supremes were great but next time I need to remember my broadhead sharpener because I accidentally pulled out an arrow I had already shot and put it through the heart of the white goat shot from 5m and he walked 20m and stood there for about a minute before expiring. Just shows the importance of a good sharp broadhead. Best thing was we got it all on tape and can watch it again and again. Hood plenty still out there 4 ya m8  . I am going back out to another spot tomorrow with Daniel and see if there is anything bigger out there.
