Ive just started dipping my first set of arrows its alot harder then it looks and im almost high from the fumes:confused: ill post some picks up when im finished.
Are you using water based or oil based paints and do you dilute the paint to make sure the paint runs off and leaves no thick spots on the dipping. A couple of thin coats will work better than one normal coat...Glenn...

After the first two arrows i got the mix right it fairly thin im gunna put a few coats on, the only prob i have no is little air bubbles on the dipping.
not sure what base the paint is it bohning fletch lac.
To get the air bubbles out of the paint after you have stirred it try lightly tapping the tube lightly with a stich to work the bubbles to the top and then scoop the surface bubbles off the top, see how that goes...Glenn...
I'm lazy , I use a paint brush and acrylic paints to paint my capping , probably why they dont have that lovely lustre only dipped shafts seem to have . regards Perry

Most times, I just spray on my caps with a can pressure pack paint. I use masking tape and some newspaper to ensure I don't get paint where I don't want it. The beauty of spraying your caps is that it's quick to do, quick to dry and it doesn't build up too thickly either.
I use an undercoat (white usually) or coloured acrylic paint on the bare sanded timber, that way I can apply several coats of polyeurathane over the top to ensure it doesn't wear prematurely or get scratched up too easily.

can i have some pics of what you guys are talking about?
If the dipping gets a bit tedious try staining the caps and cresting the ends of the stained caps, looks really effective and much easier to do and you can use different coloured stains with the crests for a great effect...Glenn...
