Kayak Fishing Adventures
Alrighty, after winning a trip last year to Upinidi with Paul R, I have decided to return the favour and help a great cause!!! Seeing we also have a fishing section on the forum I think it would be a great opportunity to give some keen freshwater fisherman a real adventure!
Up for grabs will be a four day guided kayaking/canoeing fishing adventure with me, down four totally different rainforest rivers in Far North Queensland. The action will be thick & fast as you paddle down some of the best rivers in FNQ. Stunning scenery, fast flowing water and of course some excellent top water freshwater action.
What is included:
I will pick you up from Cairns airport (in style) and take you back to my place (also known as RangTangs Secret Hilltop Bowhunting Resort) where you will be based for next 4 days. Preferably I would pick you up in Cairns on a Thursday afternoon/night and drop you back to Cairns on Monday night. Breakfast , lunch & dinner will be supplied over the entire trip. I never go hungry so neither will you! Kayaks & canoes will be supplied by me. All the secret lures you will need, will be supplied by me for each days fishing. If you want to use your own that is fine as well. The kayaks will be transported on my ute to each river, all of which are within a 30km a radius of home.
The Fish:
You will catch many different species of fish. My favourite and the most plentiful is the Sootie Grunter, which fights hard on light gear and I guarantee you will get smoked by a few of these bad boys over the trip. Over the four days we will also catch the elusive Jungle Perch! These fish are only found in the most pristine rainforest creeks and are great fun to catch. Mangrove Jacks, Barramundi, Tarpon & if you are unlucky enough turtles, are some of the other species you may catch.
Each river is very different. Some can only be described as rainforest creeks, others rivers. I can’t give the exact locations or river names because these are my ‘secret spots’ and I rather keep it that way!!
I can cater to your needs! A normal day on the water for me is 6am – 6pm, however we can go as easy or as hard as you want.
What you need to supply:
1) Transport to Cairns
2) 1 x 1000-2500 spin real with 10 lb braid on a 5’6 – 6 foot, 2-4 kg rod
When:
Seeing the auction ends in August I would recommend taking this trip from September 1st – October 31st. Things start to heat up around this time of the year and the weather is still fine before the wet season. If you are game, we could push it and plan the trip for November. Chances are it will be fine and the fish will be going off! All it means is you will have to book your plane tickets later rather than sooner!

Man that is a great donation Blair, sure to go off during the auction.
