Grunter, i got my first fox 45 seconds after pressing the "baby cottontail" button on one of those replicator series calls mate.
That's all the convincing i needed!

after you press the button will it continue playing or stop for a while, for instance could you set it up next to a rabbit decoy or even a dead rabbit hit the button and hide 20m off ?

Nope.
I had to keep hitting the button repeatedly. It plays about a 5 second burst. I hit a few combinations. A quiet one first in case there are any close, then the "squealer" to call out further and bring them in, then after about a minute of that i go back to a quieter one. If they won't come in past 30 metres i hit the "mouse squeaker" one to coax them in. If i see nothing in 5 minutes, i walk a bit more then set up again.

Why dont you just try doing that with the whistle Puk, put the whistle in your mouth and you can play what tune you want, loud, soft, its all part of the learning curve. Personally i'd like to say i called that fox in, not some battery opperated decoy. Just my opinion.

Rudy, i have called in 4 foxes with the button whistle. I just only shot one of them.
I didn't say i used the replicator exclusively. I like the whistle for convenience, and because it is a lot smaller. I also have a scotch caller, a tenterfield-style fox whistle and another mouth-held reed type whistle. But i certainly couldn't be dissapointed after it produced a fox for me right off, could i?
The replicator is also better for long-range calling.

I have whistled in dozens of foxes with a bent piece of tin with a nail punched thru it. Once someone shows you how to make and use them, they are certainly very effective in bringing in the wiley reynards......

Howie, any chance of a photo of your homemade tin whisles ?

From what I make of it, the main advantage of the electronic jobs is they can be positioned off the hunter a short distance, thereby allowing the bow to be drawn (where I get generally get sprung) with the fox concentrating on the caller rather than the shooter off to the side.

Button whistle has been my favorite over the years, mostly rifle shooting, a lot of blokes rave over the scotch predator calls though.

This may interest someone, rifles though not archery.

windknot, try the search button, with a term like "tenterfield". That is what the bent-tin style of fox whistle is called. One of the young fellas on here was making them and actually gave a few away. Some of the posts do include photos.
