Wondering if someone can direct me to a site that I can view/download anatomy diagrams for Asian Water Buffalo. I would imagine being bovine they would be similar to cattle.

Hi Marlin 44,
My suggestion is to go or write to your nearest University that offers a vet science or Aggricultural degree and ask them for an Anatomical Chart of the familiy Bovidae (this genus covers all bovines or cattle). Buffalo are not that dissimilar to other species of cattle in general. If you use this option don't tell them you intend to hunt. Kids school project or somthing is a good reason.
Alternatively you could go to your local friendly butcher and ask for one of those posters which shows the various cuts of meet and where they come from in a cow.
Also depending on how friendly you are with the local butcher. You could as that he ring you when he next takes apart the next beef carcase he gets that way you will have a sense of size and placement. If you do get the opportunity to do this take a steralised bare arrow shaft with you and you can use it only as a guage on how far your arrow has to penetrate to reach the vitals. I managed to do this once with a friendly butcher many years ago and it was most helpful in helping me imagine animals as a 3d form in my head. You can then aim for the heart even without actually seeing it.
I hope this post is not too long and helpful to you.
Good hunting and I hope to hear a good storey when you take out that buff.
Try here mate, it may be what you're after.

Huntercheng - thanks for that. I got a mate at uni - will hit him up for something. Trip locked in for August this year.
Luke - perfect - thanks for that. I did a search on the site using the words "Anatomy pics" thought it might get me in the general area. Thanks again.

The diagram of the buffaloe is not a good reference, as the kill area of the lungs is far to generous and too far back.
It is my opinion that this particular diagram needs correction.
However, if you look at the skeletal structure of the leg and scapular bones, and the crease at the back of the shoulder, you will notice it forms a rough triangle shape.
If you smack him right in the centre of that triangular shape, about one third of the way up the height of the chest, you will be pretty close.
Your bow must be at least 70# and arrow weights between 800 to 1000 grains would be my recomendation.
A long narrow 3:1 profile 2 blade broadhead of heavy strong construction. razor sharp of course.
There will be some who think this is overkill, but you dont want to "annoy" animals this big, why take the chance of using less.
