Woke at sparrow's fart this morning and drove to a local rabbit spot both Jase and I have gotten to know.

I've been shooting (and shooting at ;) ) a lot of rabbits lately, as there are a few around, but also I enjoy challenging myself on the longer shots. I like to shoot arrows, I feel if I'm out hunting there's no sense in worrying about lost arrows. 4 arrows fell victim this morning ;)

It's all great practice for the rut ;)

Even though I've shot plenty of rabbits over the years, and with a bow and arrow since I was about 13yrs old, lately I have really noticed how much 'balls' these little buggers have.

I don't at all wish to start some debate, but no matter what you hit em with, or where you hit em (except clean head shots, of which I try and take) they can make exceptional get-away's for such small critters.

I shot 6 this morning, all quick fatal shots, but only recovered 3 for a photo as they make it to the blackberry cover like diggers escaping a machine-gun turret, heroically even when smoked with the 80#'s I shoot.

Also had 2 foxes (my first for the season) come into the tenterfield, but got winded about 50m out.

Well done on the Bunnies Rory,
Yes, they certainly have a tenacity for life which is out of proportion to their size.
I surpose every minute of their life there is something trying to eat them or shoot them;)
I know for everyone one I have shot I would have lost another one.
Grant.

Rory a few mates and i have talked about this before a rabbit is the hardest animal to kill with an arrow body size to the arrow size u can cut them in half with a BH and they still run further then some goats hit in the same spot with the same BH .Thanks Shane

I have found the rabbit downing head though, my beloved Muzzy 100 grain broadhead, I shot all of these last 4 with the same head and not one rabbit made it more than a couple of meters from the hit. I will take a pic of the head after going through rabbits, dirt, tree base, gravel and rocks. A little dinted in the blades, but very strong indeed, and with new blades it's good to go for the big stuff! :)

I like these next two rabbits/pics so I left em a little bigger :)

i smacked a big bunny through the shoulders today and it managed to run through a thick bunch of blackberrys and into a small clearing and died, luckily for me i was able to climb over the top and retrieve my arrow and bunny. he would of made it atleast 10meters with a solid hit from a judo.

good effort your doing well.
