Over the past 5 years i have shot and lost 2 foxes both down rabbit holes. Now in 2008 i think enough is enough and its about time i shook that bloody monkey. Some of you would have seen a couple pics in my last hunt where i missed 2 foxes. here they are for those who havent seen them

This has got me really keen and this afternoon i went out with my brother for a whistle down the creek 5 mins form home.
We got dropped off and sat in front of some rocks for a whistle. About a min later i noticed a young fox coming in under a pepper tree about 60m away.

He came in to about 10m and froze looking my way. with his chest behind a tussock i went for the head. I wasn't real sure what happened next all i knew was the fox ran away and i was verry dissapointed. After watching the video footage i actually skipped my supreme tipped arrow off the top of the foxes head!
The fox is in the grass about centre frame. The blur in the top left is my arrow on its way.

Running away with nothing but a head ache.

The next spot we sat and shistled for about 30seccs before my brother said casey this way and i looked over past him to see a young fox snooping his way in. Trouble was dylan was in between me and the fox so i drew back and slowly moved around dylan before i swung my loaded bow around to point at the fox. I was up on one knee and very shakey and i let rip and the arrow went straight between his ears! Wouldnt be so bad if all these misses weren't on video! the fox would have only been 12 meters away and i missed again!
here he is propped before i shot.

straight after i went and fot my arrow and came back to watch the footage, lesson learnt, next thing dylan goes ohh ****! i look over my shoulder and there is my foxy sitting 10m away like a dog watching us. I try to pick up my bow but he's already on his way! ah well. And as we went to move off we noticed another one sitting about 100m away watching us. No doubt he was coming in as well but saw me moving around.
I consider myself a pretty good shot and can regularly take rabbits under 20m. SO i'm a bit dissapointed in myself for stuffing up all these chances on foxes under 20m. It was still an awsome afternoon out there and we saw 6 foxes. I'm really keen to get back out and hit them hard until i get one and i have a heap of awsome spots arounf the place for whistling, Hey if i shoot at enough i'll have to hit one one day hey?
I'll keep posting in this thread my fox hunts until i get one. I'm not going to stop now until i do. Just who knows how long it might take though.
Sorry about the bad Quality pics they were taken out of the video footage.
