Gday everyone just a quick little story bout this morning whilst deer hunting .
I have been hunting on a property near home for about 8 months since i got my first bow and took up bow hunting after hunting with rifles and dogs from a young age . any way i have been hunting chital deer on the place ( often 3 or 4 times a week ) and have had many very close encounters since hunting there .I have not even taken a shot as i always held back for that perfect shot not wanting to wound one of these beautiful animals and lose it and then other times they are just too good for me . Any way i know i,m rambling on but this morning i finaly had a stag in my sights and decided on a shot when he was perfectly broad side and unaware of my presence .
I steadied the pin on his shoulder and took a breath then squeezed of the release then to my horror watch as my arrow left the bow then dropping down well short in a severe arc towards the ground and smashing into a star post and shattering . As i stood there in total shock trying to comprehend what had just happend the stag leapt over the fence he was near and disappeared into the paddock of long grass . I was gutted and thought there is no way i could of miss judged the distance by that much .
I got home and got my target butt out to check my bow and as i drew back for a shot i noticed my arrow dropped down into my whisker bisquit so i let my bow down and put it back up and drew again and it done the same thing 3 more times in a row . :( ... thanks for reading my story i hope the next one i write has a photo of a deer lying in front of me to share with yous

cheers shane

Bad luck Shane,
I like your commitment to wait for that high percentage shot.
Stick at it.

Get yourself a new biscuit, they do wear out and I have noticed the bristles on my own rest get the droops. I shoot alot of arrows and replace my wb every few months. When you drop a Chital, it is a major accomplishment with a bow, keep at it champ...Howie

Bad luck there mate. Chital are certainly the hardest things i have shot at to hit. Once that arrow is in the air, there's no guessing what those spotty sneaks will do. Not starting the debate again, but this is exactly the scenario that I was talking about with the biscuits. Once in a life time opportunity and it let you down. Then again I suppose any bit of equipment can let you down at that crucial moment so it pays to pay attention to your set up regularly. Better luck next time.

i feel for you. i muffed a shot on a nice chital stag and i still lose sleep over it and it was many years ago. be thankful it was a clean miss (next best thing to a double lung )

he will be bigger next time.- bet you would like to take the shot again!

Top stuff for getting in range on the stag! Get a replacement. Biscuits are great for the final approach when the last thing you want to do is take your eyes off your game to look to see if you arrow is still on the rest. Good luck next time!

To right could have been worse, and a lesson well learnt is one not easily forgotten. Bet you dont let the WB wear out again. Even better at least you where out hunting, even coming home empty handed is better than not being there at all.
Good luck next time.

I had an arrow misalign on my drop away rest as well, it shot to the right and caused me some heart aches, so its not just bikkies. I replace my wb regularly now. Good lesson learned. Stay with it big fella, you'll get one of those spotties fella's soon as you have the patience and drive.

Check that your peep sight hasn't moved up before changing your biscuit. And if it has, make sure it is tied in HARDCORE!

Bad luck chief.
