Howdy yall. About 2 days ago i went to my mums friends 40th, When i arrived i began talking to other people but after about 5 minutes a man walked up to me said " i hear you shoot archery! " then without even introducing himself he asked me if i wanted to go hunting with him:confused:. Lol what could i really say to that? I declined his offer because i was going to Jack ( Jack.L ) ludbrooks going away bbq. I introduced my self and then he told me his name was matthew I tryed to create small talk by talking about archery and hunting and that sort of thing. When i asked him if he had ever gotten anything he said that he had shot only one rabbit and he said he shot it at night from 70 metres away. Lol :P PULL IT A BIT HARDER!!! lol I thought the funny thing about that though was that he doesn't have sights and he his rest was one of the little piece of plastic rests that cost like 5 dollars. I soon left the party and went home.

The 2 days later i recived a phone call from matt. HOW DID HE GET MY NUMBER!!!! He then asked where i live? i told him and within about 5 minutes he was there and had his bow. He said he had come to pick me up to go spotlighting. After having a couple practise shots we were off. About half way to Newstead i was talking to him and he said he was really excited about going out, He then said that it was his first hunt.:o HE LIED ABOUT THE RABBIT AND NOW I HAD A LEARNER WHO DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING!!!!! We drove to Newstead to pick up Brett, Who is a great bloke and he was bringing his rifle and his daughter Claire;). Then we were off. We drove allong for about 20 minutes and then we arrived at Bretts mates farm. Matt and myself got out and began walking down a road. Matt began flinging arrows like a mad man at every rabbit he could see. After scaring off every living animal in that spot we moved to the other end of the farm. Him and myself got out again and began walking down a rocky gully down to some borrows. Once again he began launching arrows with no effect. When ever he saw a rabbit he would yell out THERES ONE!!!!! HE'S MINE!!!! Then the rabbit would disapear down a hole and he would then say " huh must have seen us."

We then moved to another spot where Brett and Claire got out the rifle while Matt and i began walking behind them. we walked down the road about 5 km, i walked up on top of a ridge lurking through the blackberry bushs, Brett and Claire walked down at the bottom of the ridge with the rifle quitely sniping off rabbits and Matt ran along the side of the hill smashing through the brush. he scared all the rabbits towards Brett and myself. After he had a shot at a running rabbit he began to yell out profannity. I walked down to see what was wrong, He had broken his plastic rest lol:P. He then mopped behing the rest of us as we continued allong with the hunt. we soon came up on a rabbit sitting on the side of the hill about 80 meters away and as Brett was about to shoot Matts phone went off. ARGHHHHHHH That was it, We started walking back to the ute when i spoted a rabbit sitting on the hill about 40 meters away. i put an arrow on the string and shot. THUMP:D i couls see the rabbit draging itself towards it's borrow and i put another arrow on the string and drew. i was just about to release when Matt runs in front of me and starts running towards the rabbit. i let down and began screaming abuse at Matt as he ranto retreve the bunny. It had gone into it's hole and died so Matt brought back my hair and blood covered arrow and we drove all the way home in silence.

NEVER AGAIN.......

very funny story mate. Like someone stumping their toe you cannot help but laugh at someone else's misery..
Just hope he does not do what a few of the retarded newbies that do not last long do and that is go back to the place and start to hunt it without permission.

Lol i talked to Brett today and he said that he thought he was gonna need a change of jocks after hunting with him. Aparently when i was up on the ridge he tried to shoot a rabbit and was shaking that bad that the arrow fell off the string and he dry fired.

Sounds like a perfect oportunity to teach him how to do it the right way mate, did you give him any pointers?

I'm really not the best person to be giving him tips. I'm only 16 and he's 26 and i really didn't want to seem rude. He was an awesome bloke though, I would have a beer with him any day.

Perhaps a very strict bowhunting/archery lession might help him out. Encouragement goes a long way, you might turn him from a looser into an alright bloke.

I agree Howie, sounds like his over enthusiasm got the better of him, that combined with his lack of understanding.

don't forget stupidity...

if ya gonna take him out hunting again maybe take him to a range and get a coach to teach him a few safety things first...

I disagree, he simply sounds like a total ****.... and a danger to boot. hopefully his broken rest will put him off so he can go off on another wild tangent.

thats my rant done for the day :)
