seeing as today was my last day of hols it was a good time to go hunting. my main aim of the hunt was to shoot another fox and hopefully whistle some up. on the way out to the property we spotted 4 nearly killing 2 so i had in mind it was going to be a top day.
justin (hoyt trykon) was out at my property a few days ago and shot a few billies so i was first off to check them to see if any foxes were a bit peckish. none were spotted and after an hour of whistling at different spots nothing came up. we decided to go for a drive to see what we could find. we found a mob of goats only 100yards away and so decided to check them out. i had already passed up a few mobs of goats without even checking to see if there was anything big in the mob which i now regret. anyway i played around with the goats for a bit but there was nothing huge and to hot to get any meat. we drove around again and stopped at many places for a whistle but nothing came up. it was a good day but this fox thing is harder than i thought lol.
does anyone have any experience with the scotch predator calls, are they any good. thanks

oh and a few pics

The only thing I know about calling foxes is that at times it can be very frustrating.

LIKE MY LAST 10 TRIPS.

The only thing I have managed to attract lately has been curious livestock? :o

I've been using the predator call for a few years and always take it with me. I use a release aid, so the method i use is to tie a piece of string about a metre long onto the bellows, this way i can stand on the bellows and use the string while i have my release aid hooked on my string loop. If you're hunting by yourself i've found this the method that works best for me.

ive got a scotch predator call but its one with a reed and is short for use with the mouth only .not the longer version you can use by shaking or blowing into it. im still playing with it to get a good sound.grimmo

Scotch preditor calls are good specially if the foxes are used to the old tinny, the scotch preditor caller is a lot lounder and make many various pitches, if they are used to the rabbit call by the tin whistle use a hare in distress call (sounds like a baby crying) i got one in first time :D ...but it was smarter than me lol, ive whistled with mine about 6-7 times and brang in 3 foxes none in the right position for a shot to be taken... but i rate the caller ;)
