got away from home friday about 1 pm keen for the 3 day hunt, so i thought it was going to be.. got about half way there and graeme gets a phone call from a mate in tamworth to say "come over for the night ,for a-get- together ..so we all decided to go. so that night seen us at the rodeo and then back to his place for some pool and to many rums... i got to bed about 7.30am with a loss of $60 - didn't have to good of luck on pool, after 2 hrs sleep, we were up and off water skiing - for my 1st time, had a ball... we finely got out to the property about 6pm on saturday went for a quick scout.... 5.30am sunday up and in the 4wd on our way out to the back of the place 1st we decided to walk the creek beds 400m from where we stopped we put up a sow and mob of piglets then we headed up to the back to where the mountain range started... graeme decided to go along the bottom while me & cheyno went up to the top and what a mission that was .... we made it to the top and cheyno is not as fit as he thought so that saw him piking it at the top... so i started to head around to the otherside of the mountain, taking some photos on my way around... just as i made it around i heard this nanny burst out with a big warning call, i spun around to see where she was about 30yd away and could just see her, off she went so i followed her up to find her run it to a mob of about 15 goats and 2 of the biggest billies i have ever seen on there..swear to god - have to be near 40' , on their way down into the valley... i thought to myself i would leave cheyno behind and go after them, but in doin that might have seen him getting lost as he didn't have a gps on him and has never been there before... so off i went back to get him, when i got back there here he is asleep - 1 kick in the guts got him up, and some motivation got him going .. by the time we got back around there the valley below was full of goats every where and could hear them all around us so we closed in on some noise to find us in 30yd of 2 nice billies but with no shooting lane so we let them feed on a bit and then i sent cheyno down and around to meet up with them.. as i went up and come in from behind them they ended up in front of cheyno with a 20yd shot but no shooting lane again.. 1 movement from him found them off and out of there.. on our way back down to the ridge face about 20yd away from the edge ran straight in to him again as i spotted him he ran to the right of me and stopped at 50yd and started to bello as his 2 girls were to the left of me at 20yd... as he only seen me i told cheyno to go around as the billy kept bellowing to his girls... as his girls got to 10 yd in front of me i heard cheyno's bow go off and i turned and looked to see what happened.. he spun and looked cheyno's way with no sound after the bow had went off i knew he had missed him now giving him a 2nd go.. there goes the bow again and thats all the billy need to hear and off he went with his 2 girls close behind... another swing and a miss i couldn't believe it, the billies would have went mid 30's, but i guess thats how it goes so we started to walk along the range, no more then 60yd heres is a nanny on heat with 4 billies in to her so i went in for the stalk to find me 15yd with the nanny laying down and the 4 billies tring to get her up so i picked the one i wanted and came to full draw as i was settling my pin on the billy she jump to her feet and started to run straight at me ..i didn't no what to do - i thought they were going to run straight over me.. she got to 3 yd and saw me, she did a 180 and was off... i might not of got a shot off but i tell u i still got a rush and a half after that... cheyno wanted to go back but with me that wanted to go down in to valley below for some more goats saw us in a bit of disagreement .... after a 1\2 hr of this, i thought there is always tomorrow so off we went, got back down to the 4wd where we met up with graeme, he had better luck then us, in one way,he lost his $700 gps & put up about 4 more pigs but he got a piglet and a sow in 1 shot... he said as he shot, the piglet stuck its head up in the way and the arrow hit it in the back off the head and then straight thru the sow which saw him with 2 for the price of 1.....

.... 5.30am monday up and in the 4wd on our way out to the back. on our way there we spooked a sow and piglets that were in the creek so we stopped and let cheyno out as he wanted to stay at the bottom off the hills and hunt for pig's... as me and graeme was going back up to the top of the range to go for some more goats.. as we stopped at the base of the mountain we spotted 4 goats suning themselfs on the range... thought to myself that this was a good sign so off we went .... got to the base of the range and the goats were still there looking out over the valley below... now all we had to do was climb up the face off the range without them noticing us.. as the only way up is in clear veiw of the goats.. we managed to get up without them seeing us which was a good start... so we sat there and came up with a plan of attack ....so we headed into the bush and circled around to come in from behind as we neard them ...there was 2 to the left and 2 to the right at 20yd apart so i put the stalk on to the ones on the left as graeme went around to the right ......it was 1 off the best stalks i have had as the bush was think and the ground had dead leafs all over it... as i got to about 30yds of her and at the edge of the bush she was laying down towards me with her head facing away and another goat next to her as i krept into 15yds graeme was getting himself ready for a shot on the other 2 ... all i could see was her chest so i drew back and set my pin on her chest ... away the arrow went hitting to spot and passing straight through... up the 2 jumped and ran straight at graeme stopping at 5yds of him.. as he was drawing on the other 2 that was standing there not knowing what was going on..... the 1 that i shot and her mate spotted him and off they went ........ and then thud another 1 down on the spot with her kid next to her give me another chest shot so i sent 1 away hitting the mark and passing straight through and down on the spot it went... so we took some pics... the 1'st one i shot ....i did not worry pic's as she went about 50yds into the think of think bush..... and off we went over to the otherside where i had seen all the goats the day before... but not a thing, we look for 3hrs and still came up with zip but it was a good start 3 out of 4 not to bad ... we got back down to the 4be where cheyno was having a kip another kick in the guts got him up ask him how he went and i got .......not a thing not a @@@@@@@ thing better luck next time mate
