nice mate, it's interesting to see that paul is one of the only makers that seems to go over board with his handle pins :)
Hi Forrie
Is useing to many pins a bad thing or a good thing . I just like how you can make a patteren from them .
I no other makes use as little as possiable pins .
Cheers Paul
P.S thanks Rod for posting it
for me it's a good thing
Forrie,
I noticed on the Archery Forum about your post regarding pins.
Here is my view.
Most of the pressure/forces in the handles are,
from point to butt
left and right
Most handles are glued together hence most of the problems with left and right are fixed by the glue and a lot of the point to butt problems as well. Really flash makers can use hidden pins - hence- only a little of pressure/force is needed for any point to butt problems are they are fixed with a few pins. My thoughts are 3/32/2.4mm say 4 to 6 (5 with a thong hole max) will sort out any problems.
A couple of Loveless bolts is more than enough (try taking a handle off a knife with Loveless bolts - I would suggest a grinder).
Unless you are making a Coffin Handled Bowie or something similar and then by tradition you should use 13 pins.
I am not saying anyone is right or wrong (except the 13 in the coffin handles) but I would give you another thought.
So because you help the knife people in Australia I can give you some knowledge/thoughts/ideas for free. (and not getting into a **** fight about how many pins in a handle in a post).

then
Loveless bolts - http://jantzsupply.com/cartease/item...l.cfm?ID=CPLS2
yeah, egg timers.
I don't know for sure, but I wonder if a few people are making knives with "2 pins" because they see knives with 2 "loveless, corby, acrorn/bolts,screws" and they use a piece or 1/8 or 5/32 rod and it's seems to "look" the same...................wonder, wonder, wonder. They look thinner, using pins.
hope that brings some in in site mayall
cheers forrie
btw sorry for hijacking
