A few weeks ago me and a mate headed out west to look for a few goats on a property we hunt out near tamworth .
we arrived late friday night so set up camp then got ready for a early start in the morning we were of early morning to glass the hills and see what was around we had just come down the track and noticed a heap of goats in the open paddocks before even getting out to the back of the place .
It was deans turn for first shot this trip so we glassed the mob for a while and pickied out a very nice billy quite big compared to most we've seen in the area .
There was only one problem getting through the 30 or 40 goats all around him for a shot this proved quite hard and they were always slowly on the move it ended up taking about 5 hours to get a good shot on him and dean stalked in to around 30 m and double lunged him and secured his best billy to date.http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj185/deerslayar/cressbrookjan08003.jpg
The next day we were off early again wanting to get right up the back into the hills looking for a real big fella but after trecking all morning up and down mountains in the heat we failed to find any decent billies .
We were right up high glassing and back down in the paddocks towards camp there was another mob so we headed down and got to about 100m of them and could see they were heading towards a dam so we headed them of and waited in ambush . After checking them out i picked a nice coloured billy out of the mob and moved along to were i thought he would re appear and he came past but a little further at about 30m i lined him up and the shot went a little low behind the front leg but still dropped him within about 20m with the rest of the mob unsure what was going on i managed to knock another little billy and a nanny before they fled .http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj185/deerslayar/cressbrookjan08005.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj185/deerslayar/cressbrookjan08006.jpg
