Was trawling through Trad Gang a 3 or 4 weeks ago and found a post where a fella had posted a picture of his new armguard and knife sheath combination and was asking for others to post images of theres .

I had considered them some time back but never felt inspired to make one and see how handy one could be . Well I made one - didn't spend too much time on it as I want to give it a good try in the scrub but first impressions are Excellant , the armguard is comfortable and I do not notice the extra weight . As the knife is on the underside of the guard it does not even come close to interferring with the bow string - I'm sold , will make a real fancy job next . regards Perry

Mate if that isn't a fancy job then I'm Ginger Spice's unborn foetus!

That's awesome buddy! I reckon you would have a market with pig hunters there. (Not that we want more pig hunters about)

Jase.

Great bit of leatherwork Perry,
I have thought about the concept too, but do you use a knife often enough when hunting to overcome the potential hassles of having it there? Just an honest question. If you do, then it will be ideal.

Again, a nice piece of work.

That is some nice handy work but I tend to agree with puk, why would you want a knife on your forarm anyway? And wouldnt a knife of that size have farly limited uses!
It does look kina cool but. ;)

I have found the armguard and knife does not get in the way at all . Yes the blade is only 3 1/2 " long not long enough for sticking for instance but it's a solid unit well suited to to skinning , butchering and fine for other methods of despatching game . I dont like wearing knives or binocular pouches on a belt , annoys the crap out of me . My hunting set up is a Camelback backpack , bow quiver and this armguard knife which serves the dual purpose of keeping the sleeve of my leafy camo suit out of the way of the string instead of rolling it up . Next little challenge is knocking up a shoulder strap for my binoculors to get them out of my pocket - annoys me as well . regards Perry

I probably wouldn't use it or make it myself, but the work looks good...

AND I love it when people come up with a solution that is a little different. +1

Looks good there mate;)

Would having the handle pointed towards the wrist help in getting your blade out faster and lessen the chance of a hookup on your bowstring?

Nifty idea that is for sure. Ithink the trad guys will be on a winner with that one myself. As for that knife being to small, thats about the size of most of my feild dressing knives & i have found them more usefull in a little knife than a big Rambo knife.
