gday

i have recently purchased a dozen blackstump broadheads with inserts, the problem is i have to glue the inserts in myself and have never done it before. is there any special type of glue i should use or is there anything i should know/do before i glue them in?

thanks guys, dan.

24hr. Araldite. It is a two part epoxy that you need to mix in equal portions. Don't mix up a heap as it does go a long way. Smear an amount onto your insert and press your Blackstump on once you have it lined up in the right position. Try not to twist it once you have pushed the head on. Once done, stand the arrow on its point and spin test it, if it does not spin true, repeat the process until it does. A wobbly broadhead is hard to tune and will not fly properly.Once they are spinning true clean any excess epoxy off and you are done.

The local shop uses hot glue from the hot glue guns.

However, he heats up the insert, puts the glue on it and inserts it. Then into a jar of water to stop heat transfering to the shaft too much.

I've found this to be sufficient. Will need a blow torch to heat it up, and then just glue sticks.

I'm now in the process of buying equipment to start building my own arrows. Fletching jig, blow torch, glue, fletches and inserts/tips.
