Recently I have experienced some problems tuning some new Broadheads, I eventually worked out that it was the cut on my shafts that was the problem and not the Broadheads or inserts, but in the process of overcoming this problem I decided to build a set of rollers that I could spin test shafts and Broadheads on.
I scrounged around and found some bits and pieces that I thought I could work with and this is what I came up with.

The bases are aluminium cool room door tracks, the bracket that the containment rollers are mounted to are aluminium strip, the bearings are 8mm ID skate board bearings.
The whole lot cost me $15 which is the cost of the bearings. I figure apart from spin testing I can use it to check arrow spine and also shaft cutting.

When I said it only cost $15 I didnt factor in the 4 hours I spent stuffing around with it.
So thats $15 + 4 x $150(hourly rate) = $615.00 +GST
How's that sound?:P

Great idea well done.
I had thought of doing something similare for ages but your idea is better then what I came up with.

the only suggestion I can make on yours is that the wing nut adjustment for the containment arms seems to much of a pain in the butt to do up an undo every arrow change.
Can you hook up a spring to it so it's spring loaded.
So all you need to do is left the arm, put arrow in, let down, done!

Yeh, that could be done without to much trouble, but I can see more use for it without the containment bearings anyway. They really aren’t that much trouble, I tapped a thread into the post part so it doesn’t need a spanner on the head of the bolt to undo it, it’s a two finger job with the wing nut. I was considering mounting it all on a track so you didn’t have to square it up each time you use it.

not wanting to hijack your thread but I bought a fully portable spinning tester
for about $40.00.One of the best things I have bought in a long time, completely
packs away into my bits and pieces box.

Looks good.
How can you check arrow spine with it though?

Here you go, this weight is from my RAM spine tester, it weighs 1.88lb.

Are small spine testers commercially available and if so how much? I thought the standard weight for testing spine was 2lb.
It’s a different take on all the spine testers I have seen, does the downward pressure from the dial gauge have any measurable effect on the result, im thinking that the reduced weight is to acount for the gauge pressure?

I measured the weight on my Coffee bow scales, maybe the scales are out, I'll dig out my Ohaus scales and reweigh it.
I don't think the dial indicator would put that much pressure on the shaft.
I bought the Ram Spine Tester from Lancaster, it also has a nock and point straightness tester with it.
I can't remember how much.
