I got a chance to get out to a mates property for a sat avo sunday morning hunt. I was told to make the effort as the blackberry which chokes the property was in fruit.
Turned up 3pm to see the neighbours not getting along

It was hot so i headed straight down to the river. Ten mintues in and theres a black shape moving around. Slipped of the boots and got to 20m but couldnt get a clear shot. As the hog came out of the blackberry i started to draw. only to see him do the bolt.
Then the goats started straight above me high on the back of a mountain. 30min later im sitting 20m of a few goats waiting the right shot. One went broadside 30seconds later and she was on the ground.

Started to take the meat but i got put off ( see general).
Sun started to get low so down to the gully to see if any hogs were about. 2 good hogs were moving through the blackberry again snuck into 25m waited for one to be clear didnt happen they must have got my wind as they did the bolt. Just about ran over to the next gully as the light was going fast that was a mistake as i spooked a mob of at least ten pigs they ran in all directions. Back to the shack feed couple of drinks and bed.

Pigs been eating lots of fruit check the seeds

Up before first light and back over to the same gully 3 nice hogs were getting into the fruit. again couldnt get a shot as the blackberry is very thick. They moved off not spooked and trotted over a small hill. I followed got to the
gully didnt see pigs but a mob of 7 billys ended up taking the biggest he did the bolt back to where i had just came and was finished.

After taking this pic around the corner i found a billy enjoying the morning sun. Shot him high at 20m on a step angle down hill. he ran flat stick straight down the hill didnt stop till he made the river. Caught up with him at 10m and finished him off.

The hogs make lots of tunnels.

What all the fuss is about

Rather come across this guy than the other reptiles in the area

It was a good weekend the hogs can wait im going to try to get back next weekend while the fruit is still there.

Good hunting there Clint. Are there normally many pigs in the area or do they just move in when the berries areon? Reason I ask is that my mates farm has a big gully of berries through it and we have seen pig sign but never a pig. Might have to get out there. Top story too by the way.

I havent hunted there that long have taken two pigs off the place. I havent seen or heard of that many pigs in one go. I really think its the fruit they were really into it . one bloke has been dogging it for over ten years and has plenty of storys and the owner shot one over 100kgs a few years back.
So yeah i would say now would be a good time to check your spot mate.
