On thursday the 7th of feb i went for a bike ride through mine and trophyhunters hunting area. On my way along a trail to an isolated dam i came across a sow with 6 piglets, i managed to catch a little boar but i let it go to be shot another day.
I decided to take my bow with me the next afternoon to see if i could get onto some pigs. I stopped the bike about 300m off where i saw the sow the afternoon before and started to walk along a creek that lead to the dam. There were wallows and sign all along the creek. As i got about 60m from the dam i spotted a fox snooping around on the outer tree line 50m away. I let out a few screeches like a bird in distress and he paused before bounding in trying to spot his meal. I drew when he went behind a large tree and kept kissing him in, he came out next to the tree and trotted into 10m before i said oi oi, he didnt stop so i growled and he arced around me and stopped slightly quartering towards me at 8m. As soon as my top pin reached his chest i released, he let out a growl and hobbled to 30m away where he layed down licking a large exit wound in his back leg. I watched him lay there for about 15 min until he turned away giving me a chance to stalk in. I got to 20 but there wasnt a clear shooting lane so i tried to get a clear shot but he turned back and saw me which caused him to walk away and hide under a log. This made it easier to stalk in, i got to 5m and put one through his heart and he was done. Then i had to ride the 8km home along fire trails with fox and bow on board to get some pics as i left the camera at home. I'm stoked as he was my first fox with the bow.
Here's some pics, enjoy.
