hi there guys.

when i started hunting i was scared that i would regret harvesting another animal, but found there was nothing to worry about, i was just wondering if any of you guys had these feelings when first hunting?

cheers.

I did not have bad feelings when i got my first kill, but it took awhile for the shaking to stop. and it was only a bunny

None what so ever but at the same time i hate to see an animal in pain so if 1 of my shots isn't just right i chase it down and do the job better.

Not at all, mate,
Though when my shots are misleading and the animal is still alive and struggling to live, I get dissapointed and it hurts me,
Though when i make that clean shot that drops him, it makes it all better.

If you read the bold part of his post you will find out he already has shot something and has found out how he would feel.
He was asking what other peoples feelings were...

when i shot a goat i felt really sick after the arrow left the string, i also kind of felt like crying a little bit because i dont think i was ready to shoot a big animal but ever since i have been trying as much as possible to get one on the ground and it just hasn't happend.

wont be long though.

I feel bad when I hit an animal and cannot recover it...

Nah, it's just a rush. Shot placement is critical to making sure it's a rush and not a disappointing painful hit for the animal. Thats no fun at all (for hunter or animal) :(

When I was young, I killed a lot of animals, without thinking about it, today I think a lot about the animal before and after.
Don't ever feel ashamed for feeling a little remorse for the animal you harvested. It what makes you a ethical hunter, not just a killer.

Hi all new member here,
I remember my first kill i was about 14 years old and it was a Kangaroo and i only wounded him and that was with a 12 gauge shoot gun, i was so upset my dad had to come over and finish him off.
After that episode i said to myself i would never hunt again. Well i still do, i suppose you get over it.

I have believed for awhile , that part of the reson I hunt is the feelings that come with it. To stalk a game animal in it's natural environment ,and make a shot that brings that animal down in the most humane way possible is exilerating to say the least. But any animals life I take is always tinged with remorse ,I feel this is the difference between Killing , and Hunting.

The last wild dog i shot [rifle] made me feel like a prick for some reason,i guess he,his ***** and his pup were doing the same thing as me,just wandering around the bush looking for somthing to kill/hunt.
