Gday guys
A family friend and local farmer saw a mob of about 100 goats on a place he said i can hunt and to get into them:D.
what i want to know is is there a certain time of day the goats will come out from the bush and feed in these open paddocks? theres a hell of a lot of bush they live in but now that they have been sighted on these paddocks it should be alot easier to find them and work out a stalk.
i know they sleep at night like us humans so would they get out into the open early moring? midday, later in the arvo or any time of day?
if you can help me out i would appreciate it alot.
tom shaw and i might be going for a drive out there tomorrow arvo for a look so hopefully that will answer some of my own questions.
thanks dan.

cant help ya with the question mate but good luck!
I usually have goats coming into the open in the middle of the day and afternoon. They seem to be active at these times and are easy to locate. Good luck.

thanks estel. i might go for a drive with mum at midday and then if tom can make it we will go out in the arvo and if they are not in the open we might scout about the bush for a little bit.

In two different parts of WA, the feral goats have completely different watering habits. One group only comes to water from about 0900 until about 1200. About 1500km away, the other group of goats waters at dawn and dusk. Both live in exceptionally hot, arid country, yet such differences exist, and each group follows the time-table exactly.
In my experiences with goats in the NSW ranges they tend to move out of cover in the early afternoon, filtering down to water late evening and heading back to cover before next light.

ok no worries, i guess we will just have to go for a look and see what we can come up with. and i forgot to mention that there is a small creek running through the open land, im not sure if theres water still in it but it joins a bigger one out the back and that should still have some decent pools of water. might be worth checking out.

Hunt them as long and as often as you can, more time in the bush the better. Some areas I hunt them they are out first thing in the morning and bed early and other places they dont appear till later in the day and stay out feeding well into the arvo. Goats usually bed fairly high in the hills and that can have a bearing on how early they turn up. If there is alot of food and water in the hills, they dont have to come down onto the flatter or more open sections to feed. If possible, get up on a high vantage point and use some good quality bino's. Locate all the watering points, dams, springs and creeks as goats drink regularly, ask the farmer where he has seen them and at what times, little bit of background can go along way in locating game. Happy Hunting

thanks howie, its too thick to get up high and look out through the trees even with a good pair of binos which is a shame as its not a bad idea.
im guessing he saw them at midday or in the arvo.
any more help would be great.
