try stalking them jesse. Sometimes they are concentrating that hard on the crickets/grasshoppers that they forget evrything else around them.

have you tried the kissing sound that imatates a distress bird, as there are many small birds having ago at the hoppers to... it might work ??
good luck

In the last few weeks the foxes have been responding very well to the whistle in my area. As mentioned, try a stalk -its a hard task but very rewarding if you can pull it off. The other alternative is to experiment with a different kind of whistle/caller. Good luck........
if ya can see em ,try little quiet sqeaks like a mouse, give it ago anyway.cheers.
Hey Jesse, I got a fox in a couple of weeks ago by making a kissing sound like a bird screetching. He was doing the same thing, snooping around in some long grass for insects & his last meal.

I was talking to a bloke who has been hunting for a long long time and we were talking about fox whistles and he suggested using a bit of styrene foam and a piece of glass, apparently you wet either glass or foam and rub them together
and it gives the most realistic hurt rabbit noise you can get.
