G'day

this is a thread to all those hunters that use a bowtech tomkat,

I am just curious to see what people have changed (if they have), on their tomkat bow e.g quiver, sight, silencers, rest and all that jazz, to what they think has improved the performance of that particullar bow, speed and noise level

as i have sold and changed some of the equipment that came with my 2008 model tomkat package, as far as i know you can only get a tomkat package

And if you have pics of your set up, please feel free to submit them

Cheers

mate ive got an 07 model tomkat, ive taken off the pin sight and replaced it with a topgun F18, simply because its tougher i also added a short stabilizer... i still use the WB but might change to another rest in the near future as for the silencers there still there but one broke off a while ago.. also same quiver but would like a 2 piece camp one though.... i don't really know it this equiptment improved the bow as i put it on pretty much straight away....

goodluck with your tomkat, there a very nice bow...

g'day sankey,

I puchased my Tomkat second hand and it had modifications done on it before I got it. The setup was good and I have not had to change anything as yet, It has a naptune drop away rest and a truglo sight which I am about to upgrade asap, to what I'm still deciding. I fugure why change too much of a good thing whilst it's punching out the arrows where I want them.

cheers bowpig

I've changed the sight on mine and added a stabiliser. The hostage rest that came fitted on mine suits me just fine. It's in the shop at the moment being turned into an Ally-Kat. I'm replacing the '06 designed cams with '07 Allegiance cams.

Sankey

ok what difference does that make

Well the cams had to be replaced anyway as they're slightly warped courtesy of my buddy dry-firing it at about half draw. The '07 cams are a better design so I figured 'why not?'. I don't know what it'll do to the feel of the draw cycle or the performance speed-wise or K.E. I'll let you know when I test it out. Won't be for a while though. Just severed an artery and some other goodies in my left wrist when an angle grinder blade shattered on me at work the other night so I'll be out of action for a month or two. :( Maybe when I get it back I'll find someone near me who wants to test-drive it for me. :D No dry-firing it though!

Here's a some pics of mine in it's case. This is before I changed the sight so the only addition from the base package is the Vibrachek stabiliser. It's 70# and I'm shooting Carbon Tech Whitetail arrows using a truball tornado caliper wrist release.

i owned one for a while (first bow) i was happy with it, and man could it spit out an arrow. that binary cam system was timed to SMOKE GOATS!!!
i found the draw quite aggressive, (speed mods) . i didn't change anything on it but in hindsight i would change the plastic quiver, and put a better sight on it.

oh and maybe make it a bit quieter,

That's a Doskocil SE 44 case. Nothing fancy but it does the job well. I put the little boxes in the lid myself. They're just a couple of small lunch boxes screwed through the bottom into the holes that are already there for mounting a bow quiver bracket. It retails for around the $120 mark I think. Have a look on Archery Supplies website.

cheers do ypu know if it will fit a tomkat with a bowtech two piece quiver without taking the quiver off
cheers

I think with the lid closed, the quiver would contact the foam inserts in the top for holding arrows. If you had a separate case for arrows then you could take the foam out in which case it would fit fine. The lid is the same depth as the base so there should be plenty of room without the foam. I'm not really familiar with the bowtech two piece quiver so I can't tell you if it will fit without removing the foam but it may do. My case is in the shop with the bow otherwise I'd give you the inside dimensions for it.

I have a tomkat 07. My current hunting setup that has proven itself many times. with whisket biscut and off the shelf sight it goes very well!!
The only modifications i have done is replaced the bowtech silencers as they got raped by the bow, An extra pin on the sight it came with for extra distance, also added a small stabiliser and i have put speed mods on the cams which made a large difference in performance.

I am currently shooting 100 grain head, 29 1/2 inch gold tip expedition hunters with 3X2 inch blazers which totals about 405g (give or take 5g).

No problems with it since i got it nearrly 14 months ago now!!!

Well, after waiting FOREVER for my replacement string (buyin OS from now on), my Tommy is once again ready for action... Not sure if i am tho!!!

Main changes:
G5 Optix Le sight- Luv it. Sturdy, heaps of adjustment and clear vision.

New stabiliser & quiver comin when the "BOSS" gives OK..

Loved my old Jaguar but this is just in a new league..

Nice is that the bowtech wildthing, if so how well does it work and wot kind of bow case is that

nice setup

cheers

Wildthing seems to work well, haven't tried any others to compare. Just not crazy about the look or the flexibility(prefer solid stab)..

The case is a Plano (111 i think). Replaced the standard grey foam with some better quality egg-type stuff, including lid, for extra support...

ok cool i was gonna get a wildthing stabilizer but i got a truglo deadenator, i rang the shop and they pointed me straight towards the truglo

anyway cheers for the help

if anyone else has any info on a good bowcase or info on their tomkat that would be great

ok seing that i started this thread i thought i might share, wot i have done or changed to my tomkat to wot i think has improved it,
i have changed the sight, arrow rest and quiver that came with the bow,
-i've sold the sight and got a truglo extreme tooless 5 pin, needed realy bright pins as well as extra pins for further distance
-the arrow rest to a trophy ridge drop zone (second hand), for silence and consistency
-the quiver to a bowtech 6 arrow 2 peice, to lighten my bow, previously had an 8 arrow quiver, looks cool too
-and i have just recently bought a truglo deadenator stabilizer, for silencing and for extra stability
-an alpine glide slide, cable slide, looks cool, smooth amd quiet
as u can see i have experimented with different accessories and got lots of info on wot gear people have found to be consistant and silent

and if anyone else uses a bowtech tomkat and would like to share their gear choises, that would be awesome

cheers
