Last afternoon I put in a great stalk for this guy, with the velvet still holding on to his tops he grazed onto a small clearing that I had been watching for the last 3 days, I got to 20 meters of him and took a hard angling away shot. He travelled 60 meters and went down cold. A young 6x6 12point free range bush head.

Now the real hard bit, getting the animal out to fully utilize it.

Nacker'd to the max, but worth pushing on.

A young boar and some wild sheep, they certainly get along even with the pig eating one of there dead.

The boar laid down and I made my way around the mountain top to get into position , you can see me top left at full draw.

A black stump broadhead from the diamond marquis took the boar full penatration from last rib to the front of the chest, he never made 30 meters

Matt showed me the best way to carry an animal with short legs out like boars and I put it to practise.

The hunting was very hard for the reds due to there habit at this time of year, and mountain boars never come easy, but thats half the fun hey.

Cashy never got out with his recurve, the terrian was more suited to compound hunting.

Good to see you got into the New Zealand spirit with the carry out, its not something I've seen much of in Australia. That stag is a good head for a bush stag.

Bloody unreal Adam, and thats a bloody good effort carrying that red out. I have shot a couple red doe's with the gun of late and i couldn't imagine how hard it would be to carry a stag! Looks like the trip was well worth it with memories to last a lifetime.

Seen kiwi doggers carrying boars like that, they use their dog collars to tie the legs then carry them like a back pack.
Never seen it done with a red stag. :P

Welcome to the Kiwi hunt Adam - well done and a top bush head. Carrying the deer out like that is not uncommon in NZ at all, although the resting part was a little unusual. Can't say I've used one as a pillow before :P
