nice pics fellas. My mate caught a newborn boar when out dog hunting one time. He has it at his dad's place in a pen by itself and the hooks now jut out over the top jaw straight and razor sharp. Will see if i can get some pics to post, it's unreal!!!!!

Took this back in 2005 when I was in Fiordland for the Wapiti hunt. I regret setting the date function on the camera, because it's photo I would have otherwise developed and hung on the wall.
It's a beautiful place. So quiet and peaceful, and clean and pure. You can just go to the lake and drink straight out of it.
New Zealand seems to have a much better attitude to hunting than Australia. You don't seem to get treated as such a social leper as you do here.
My mate is just about to go back for his fourth Wapiti hunt, and I'd like to go again next year (after I get fit )

as you know the murray is evapourating very quickly... i was at that same spot 4 weeks before and it was fall... come back and nearly all the water is gone and the only water left was fall of carp, we estimated over 2,000 in there over 1,000 dead and the rest trapped, the carp ran out of water... i didnt even need to aim in one area all i did was take random shots into the pack and was succesfull nearly every time :) , we found a few different carp (mirror carp, and some other weird ones...) also the eagles were landing on there backs and eating them alive ...
jono
I'd just like to say thank you to those who offered to help me sort out the unwanted date stamp.
I posted the picture yesterday with only a general note of dismay, and I've since had two PM's offering to help me out, and then of course there's Bowfly who has gone and fixed it and posted it back up.
It's excellent to be a part of a forum which has members who are so willing to help, especially when I haven't even met any of you.
Many thanks,
Steve

Before posting pics in the comp people prob need to read this hey.:)
With 2007 a great year that saw some awesome phtography, it is now time to start 2008 off with a bang. Place your entries here for January and please read the announcement below.
Management would like to stipulate that there will be new rules for the photocomp in 2008. With the advent of the high defintion video and game cameras, we are seeing a lot of photos in the competition of late that have come from these devices. We would however, like to see photos taken only from still shot cameras, as this in essence a photographic competition and we are rewarding the extra skill it takes to capture that perfect moment in a frozen frame.
We still love seeing the excellent pictures taken off the video and game cameras in other sections of the forum, but please refrain from entering them in the photo competition. With the advent of more sponsors coming on board, we may have an open category competition in the future. We are also looking at adding a prize for the best photo of the year that will be judged the best of the twelve monthly winners, by the members. Thank you, from the Management Team.
Also I was fairley sure they had to be taken in the last 2 months.....
Awesome pics again this month I rekon love that fallow Pete its huge is there a story coming or have I missed it.
Cheers KIM

Sounds fair to me Kim, I would like mine wiyhdrawn then as they are both outside of the rules then. The Fallow was taken via hi-definition video camera & the second one of the Chital was taken by Game Camera.
As for the Fallow there will be a pic of it once i get the software for the other camera to download it correctly, can not for the life of me get it off the video camera into the right format. I know Mozza was having the same trouble with some other footage that i wanted a copy of as well but he seems to be having the same trouble as i am. By the way Mozza have you ever got it sorted with the footage of the stalk from our last hunt downloaded yet buddy.

Thwack!
31-03-08, 08:32 PM
Went out with a couple of mates looking for a new property, drove for miles down a gravel road an came to a floodway - it was covered in billies :o probably about 40 of the suckers - half went upstream and half went downstream, all trying to get through the same holes in the fences all at the same time :P:P:P. This is the tail end of the mob that went downstream:
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh86/Thwack-Roon/GroupofBillies.jpg
This station was crawling with goats, all sunbaking on the slopes as far as the eye could see. These couple of stinkers in the next pic were just off the road about 40 meters, but were a bit camera shy and decided to climb the hill after all when we got out of the truck to have a better look:
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh86/Thwack-Roon/threegoats.jpg
Just had to get onto this place, we would do whatever it took - found the manager up to his tits in mud repairing an electric fence - probably should have kept driving and come back another day, perhaps when he was in a better mood, you guessed it "Sorry boys, we've already got about five groups of blokes hunting on here at the moment and that's hard enough to manage without adding another group, have ya tried down the road?" :o:mad:

hey grunter, how much did they pay you to use your exellent pic of the falow near stanthorpe. http://www.worlddeer.org/fallowdeer.html
I reckon a couple of the pics on the last page show why it is so important to camo your hands and arms too. No use covering your face if your arms and hands are reflecting light like beacons. Can you see what i mean from the pics?
