Anyone using a bow with the new center pivot arm or a Black Mamba, any good or bad words?

I'd like to get a new bow but can't decide, both of the above take my fancy but I don't know anyone using them.

Cheers.

hey mate i have a centre piviot guardian n love it
sits great in the hand has no recoil or vibration and is as quiet as a mouse
only thing is its a bit heavier than the specks say and the draw curve is a little harsh(witch does not bother me)
haven't needed to upgrade to a new bow this year
cheers mic

I was in the market for a new bow late last year. Considered the Guradian and Allegence, PSE X-force, Iron Mace, Martin Slayer and Black Mamba by APA. My main drivers was I wanted controlable speed, warranty back up, vlue for money and of course maximum speed. I chose the X-force above the others for the following reasons.

Guardian (smooth it is but comparativly heavy with Ibo of 329 it is not in the 340 class)

Allegience (smooth fast at IBO 335 however it is not as adjustable as some others. 30 inch draw is the absolute limit. Also when I did pull one back it seemed to have a second increase in draw weight just before the valley)

Martin Slayer (IBO 335 2008 model will be IBO 350, Nearly baught this bow. very good deal can be gotten sub $1000 and is very good value for money. In 2007. if I was after a IBO300 to 340 bow this would be it. Highly accurate and smooth. Weight is on the heavy side at 5.1 pounds but i makes it very stable in the hand. )

High Country Iron Mace (IBO 340 built well and but again limited to 30 inch draw total)

APA Black Mamba (Did not get a chance to pull this bow back did call and e-mail APA in Canada. They will send you one howver at the time the cost for it to be delivered direct from them would be $1400 Australian dollars for 5 feet per second over the X-force. Could not justify a $300 Australian dollar premium for 5 FPS. Also no distributor in Australia means long waits if somthing goes wrong.)

PSE X-force (PSE has been around for a long time and warranty issues are not an issue, IBO 348 using real world testing. Available to eighty pound a lot of the otthers except the Black Mamba were not able to have higher poundage. It is adjustable to 30.5 inch draw as is the Slayer. This was the purchase price can be had for between $1010 -$1200. Smooth with no hump before valley and at 4.1 pound fairly light for a long riser paralell limb bow. Would say not as smooth as the Guradian but smoother than the Allegience and on par with the Slayer and substantially faster than all three.

Note that the facts and figures I was looking at at the time were for 2007 bows. I have noticed that it is a lot easier to join the IBO 340 plus club now. If I was after a bow this year the contenders for 2008 would be.

High Country Speed force (IBO 352) (Good Barnsdale limbs, Hybrid cams and sligtly better value than the Bowtech below. Howver the two bows are too close to call so I would recommend pulling them both back and see how it feels. )
Martin Slayer (IBO 350) (Best value should be able to get one sub $1100)
Bowtech 82nd airborne (IBO 350) Seem to have fixed some cam lean issues they had last year (This or the High Country would be my pick if would be my pick if I wanted a 70# bow the Hybrid cams are relatively similar)
PSE X-Force (IBO 348) (This would be my pick if I wanted an 80# bow there is no other option.)

I hope this is helpful and appologise for length.

I have a centre pivot Bowtech and would have to agree with Sorehand. It is quiet, smooth, and very nice to shoot. At 4.2 lb it is a bit on the heavy side, and the draw curve is a bit lumpy, but these are only minor problems for me. Best thing you could do is find a dealer and shoot a few different bows, it will make choosing much easier.

G'day.

Thanks All.

Huntercheng, thanks heaps! You've clearly done your homework, I still hadn't figured out the cost of getting a Black Mamba over.
I have a shorter dl (27inch) so don't have the same problem as many do with the 30inch limit.

Do the extra few feet per second translate into significantly flatter shots with broadheads or do the numbers just sound good?

Cheers.
