when my new bow gets here its gunna have a whisper biscuit and i now have to fletch my vanes offset. having never heard of this style till recently am unsure what this means. is this a straight clamp adjusted on an angle or will i have to spend more money on a new jig.
this techno stuff is startin to drain the pocket.

got me some carbons a little while ago. they are the ducks nuts, now wonder every one is using them. i bought a dozen some years back took them straght out hunting and didnt get good penetration on a couple pigs so i sold them when i got back to town. i wish i gave them more if a chance.
anyway whats giving me the ****s is trying to get the vanes to stick. i used the speacial glue supplied by archery mart for the vanes and the inserts after cleaning wuth metho. both have unstuck. 2nd try i sanded the vanes feet cleaned and glued . came unstuck. 3rd try i sanded , cleaned then use arrow mate. came unstuck. also i used arryle dyte on the inserts. they also came unstuck. its driving me crazier.
if i did this procedure with my alloy, id need a vice and plyres to pull the vqanes off and still would tare leaving the foot on the shaft.
any help would be appreciated.
pedro

Jees Pedro that would drive a man to drink, if you are dealing with A.Mart
I asume you are using Gold Tips but what glue are you using. When I used
the Gold Tip shafts I used Loktite 401 on the vanes and you could not get the vanes off without a knife.I did not even clean the shafts or the vanes they just stuck straight on.The insert are a bit more trouble and now I do give a bit of a light sand up the inside of the shaft and this is doing the trick. If you use the loktite remember to keep them in the fridge or they dont work as good after some time.If you have any more trouble give me a ring 0428252003 or drop me a line on here because carbons are worth the trouble to get sorted. If you cant get the loktite range out where you are let me know and I can send some out to you.
Cheers KIM

Sorry mate to answer your original question I am using the biscuit now and find using 4 three inch vanes seems to give a bit better flight than the 3 four inch vanes I had on before. With the four inch vanes just put a couple of degrees angle on the vanes as you look at the shaft from the side of the arrow.(the front end of the vane is closer to the bow than the back end)I prob just confused you more. Also stick with the biscuit a bit as I found it loosened up a bit over a week or so and shot better for it.As I said earlier and probs dont hesitate to ask.
Cheers KIM

Mate there is about 1000 differant glues called superglue and they are all differant take my word for it the one you want is the Loktite 401 as it is chemicaly engineered to work with rubber and carbon.Buy the 25ml bottle it should cost about $17 which sounds dear but in that bottle it will last many dozen arrows if kept in the fridge.

Pedro the loctite is the way to go I use the 401 and 406.

free advise keep your fingers away from this stuff as it is a B*%#h when your fingers are stuck to the shaft

Gaday Pedro...I use locktite 454...It is in a tube and is a bit firmer than the bottled 401 but basically the same...works a treat as Kim mentioned..

I am working on a deal at the moment to get the Gold Tips but at this stage they still will not be cheap(price not yet confirmed).I have been selling a lot of the Carbon Tech range and these are very good value at $75 per doz for the White Tails including nocks and inserts.I dont have a brochure but pretty much sell anything to do with bows.

sorry to get off track a little, but why do you need to offset the vanes to shoot through the biscuit? i ask this because i was thinking about getting one and am curious as i have always used helical fletching..

also kimall, how do you find the biscuit?

why don'y some of you guys try archerytalk.com in the US do a search on the biscuit. they have have a lot more people over there useing one. I'd try the hunting section you'll find a heap of info on archery talk.

it would be nice to get the info here but we just don't have the numbers

also I use GT traditionals and use fletch tite I have no trouble with vanes sticking and use super glue on the inserts again no prob's

just my 2 cents
