Hi,
I'm fairly new to this site but am really enjoying it here. I'm wondering if anybody might be interested in listing their personal favourite traditional bow of all time? Or even the bow they wish they had never let go.
My favourite bow of all time is my 50# 1977-78 Bear Victor Tigercat. It is up for sale but I have just realised I'm not going to get the $ it is worth to me. I'm also partial to my 1970's Pearson Flame takedown 45#.

I think any bow a fellow makes a few memories with is going to be pretty special, and so it'll vary from archer to archer.
My special bows are:
A Martin Hunter recurve (that my brother has snaffled)...
A Black Widow longbow (had two, now just one, but the other is in great hands!)...
A Howard Hill longbow...
A second-hand Black Widow recurve...
And I hope that a certain Schafer Silvertip recurve will become special to me over the coming year...
Cheers,
Ben

I love all 4.5 bows that I currently own .
I regret selling 2
1 is a hoyt gamemaster
the other was a Perks Stingray It was my first true trad bow and it was sweet. It is somewhere in OZ and if I see it again I will buy it back if I can.

My long lost Algoma Packbow Recurve and my first MB Black Widow t/d
They were the first bows that got me infected with the Tradbug and the first that I shot really good with
Hope they are still straight and in good hands
its funny chuditch, i had always owned compounds and couldnt wait to get the newest and greatest thing whenever it came out.when i recieved my custom ravin TD from Dave Keable and saw the timber grain, the inlay, the shape and just the smoothness that makes a recurve i was sold on it. it aint going anywhere!

I have had some great bows over the years, and they all bring back memories, but the Checkmate Hunter I have ATM is the best that I have ever owned.
Still trying to decide who to leave it to in my will.

Chekmate J.O.P.( just one piece-literaly ) 64'' one piece recurve, yew limbs and cocobola riser 56# @ 28" but drew it to 29.5" location unknown, Chekmate crusader, one piece, 66" 56# @ 28" also yew and cocobola, drew that to 29.5" and I know that one is in good hands! Like shaftcaster they got me cranking in trad, nowadays I am more comfortable with 50lb's. and love the bows I have. regards Pete.
Best recurve , infact - bow I have ever shot is my Rivers Edge Arroyo 62" 43 # black glass quina riser , shoots an arrow out of all proportion to its draw weight .
My misses thinks we are paying off the credit card with my tax refund this year . Fact is we pay off the Visa then I will order a sister to my RER Arroyo , a 54 " 50 # twin actually . Damm sure it will be as impressive as the 62"
Favourite bow of all time is my Brigalow Meare Heath styled selfbow I made boxing day 1998 , 63" 57# . Actually it's a bit of a pig to shoot but it has a quality to it I can't explain . Excellant at clubbing charging pigs as well .
Next is my Brigalow Longbow 74" 41 # , surprisingly accurate and fast bow .
I regret selling a late 70's Bear Bearcat takedown , not because it was a great bow but because I had so much success hunting with it
46 # 64 " spotted gum selfbow
Green fibreglass yew lamination bubinga riser 55# Bob Wilson longbow , once again a pig to shoot but it has a quality to it

I think I have a new favourite (quietly whispered so the other bows don't hear) ;)
It's a two piece 1958 Ben Pearson Recurve "Cobra" 64 AMO 59# @ 28 and in beautiful condition. Err just needed to share with someone. If anyone is interested I will post pics.

Tis an interesting little piece of work. Appearing very assymetrical but draws smoothly. I have examined black and white pics of this bow and it does seem that this is the way they were made. The top limb seems to be rounder looking than the bottom yet the limbs draw straight in tiller according to the grip....? Hoping to shoot it tomorrow. Be keen to see how it goes.
