Well most of you dont know but i've recently joined the Austrailan Air Force Cadets (AAFC). Well the weekend just past i've been on a special combat training weekend. I've been at Mt Barrambogie in the chiltern forest. Most of the weekend consisted of Cam and Consealment, Cam being camoflague where you are out in the open but still not seen and Consealment being where you are consealed by something (behind something).
The stuff we did was prity hard core when it came to camoflaguing yourselfe such as in the day our group had to walk a 3k stretch of bush in battle formation using sighlent communication signals to communicate when another group had set up an ambush somewhere in that stretch of bush. I was the main scout, (yay) who is the guy up the frount who is the eyes of the group and in a real situation they would be a sniper. It was prity awsome walking through the bush watching like a hawk and then calling out contact when i saw a single poorly caomflagued head in the distance and everybody started running around doing their thing.

But the best part was at night when we had whats called a lanten stalk... basicly theres a glowstick (a little light) on a tree where we were and that was the starting point and their was a glowstick on a tree 100m away. This was in the middle of the night so it was pitch black dark and basicly we had to get from the glowstick we were at now to the other one 100m away through very thick bushland without being seen or heared by one of the 10 or so offerces that were sitting in different places in the middle. We had an hour to do it and it was fun as! And guess who was the first to get it... Me! Most of the other cadets their were seniour members which had been doing this for years and i bet them all... i dont mean to brag but i was prity proud about it.
Well it was a prity good weekend and now i'm sitting here with a day off school because i'm so stuffed.

I strongly reccomend the air force cadets to anyone here (13 to 18 years) as i think it's awsome and well worth it!

Good on you, you will definately get a lot from the air cadets. Can't believe The senario you described is Identical to what I did in the Air Cadets in Townsville back in 1974:o. Back in those days we used Kero Lanterns insted of cylume sticks 100 Yards apart(showing my age here). They teach bush survival, Compas and map reading, And promote comradeship. Take it all in as it will be a huge benefit to utilise these skills in your Bow hunting trips. Cheers Shane

I would of thought that Being airforce you wouldn't learn those type of Skills,
As i've just joined the Military as a Rifleman,
Basic Training to us is 80 Days in Kapooka with our training hours from 6am to 10pm with little time for recreation,

I'm looking forward to it indeed.

The Airforce has a mustering of ADG Airfield Defence Guard.

They are the Airforces version of the Infantry (Grunt)

They provide specialist ground defence anywhere out to 5Kms from the perimeter fence.

They protect the Bases and Installations ,personel and equipment from ground attack.

Part of their job is also training others in weapons handling and ground defence.

Some of the weapons that they use are - F88, F89, Mag58, MP5, Browning + Glock pistols, R870 Shotgun, 66 + 84 mm, Genades, GLA, Claymores and others.

To be a reservist in this Mustering you must do 11 months fulltime.
10.4 weeks at Recuits
15 weeks of that is at their Security and Fire School at Amberley on Basic course.
The remainder is spent on operational readiness training.

Thats enough of me going on

Have fun Blakey_boi

Cheers Shalee (Shane)
