View Full Version : is this the correct arrow size
hi everyone,i'm unsure if this is the correct size arrows, the bloke at the archery shop just told me i should be using 2315 in xx78 superslams, for my recurve i got on saturday,i have a 31 inch draw, and holding 57 pound weight at full draw,i need sum help as i'm leaving for Cunamulla Thursday lunchtime and need some arrows to take with me,as my other two bows aren't ready yet,it just seems to me that they might be a tad too much...if anyone can tell me what size in aluminium or carbon it would be very much appreciated........cheers Rob (p.s will be used on goats and pigs)
sounds about right and so I checked the Martin site here http://www.martinarchery.com/easton/hunteast.html
they seem to agree
try them with 125grain heads and see how it shoots. With a 30 inch draw you may not need to cut them down. I know a lot of people like to cut their arrows to the minimum length they can get away with but try them long and if a weak spine then cut them down by 1/4 inches at a time until they shoot straight. I used to shoot 2514s out of a longbow (67#@32) and had three inches extra shaft, actually aided my aiming as I had an idea of how much past my hand/bow it needed to look as a rough guess extra anchor guide. Some primitive archers swear by long arrows for extra stability in flight.
Stopped shooting the 2514s when easton shortened them.
thanks ed,appreciate that...rob
