G'day,
I know this is the "hunt swap" section, so coming on here without a property of my own to share feels awkward... but there was no "begging for a property to go to" forum ;)

I'll introduce myself:
My name's Matthew, I live in northside suburbs of brisbane, work in the CBD as an engineer, and I'm 22 years old.

I used to do archery in the backyard of my dad's house at about 13, and my dad was a mad-keen hunter, although he almost never actually went out and never took me with him, so I'm effectively a greenhorn.
I quit archery when I went to live with mum in brisbane, but lately figured I wanted to get back into it.

After joining this site I made my mind up. So I grabbed a 70# Jennings CK4.0 package from a shop on the south side and a small handful of arrows and some broadheads the other day.

Problem being is that I am 22 and work in the city, so I know absolutely NOONE who is into hunting, and wouldnt know where to begin looking for a property. even if I found one I'm not sure how I'd go without having someone experienced around to help me out.
That said I'd be grateful for any help even if its just "dey went datta way". lol.

I would love to have a crack at some pigs, goats or rabbit, basically any the feral animals our country is filled with. I've spent some time on a butt and have reasonable groupings and wont have any issues hitting a kill spot close up. The bow should be reasonably kick-arse at killing stuff as well.

Hi and welcome.
Well being in the city you cant just do what most of us countery hunters do and just pop round the corner for a quick afternoon hunt. I'de say that your best bet is to do what i do and go on google earth and use the satalite pics to find big chunks of bush in your local area and then drive to each chunk and ask at each of the closest houses if they own the land and if so then ask if you can use it. It's ectually a bit of a skill to make yourselfe as decent as possable to convince the owners, lol.

Or if you just wanted to get straight into the haevy hunting you could just get a state hunting licence that should let you into the state forests.

OZ, there use to be some feral pigs at Narangba many years ago and every winter the dingos use to migrate down from the mountains in large numbers as well, don't know about now though, I suppose it is well developed with houses these days. You can ring me on 54358251 some time and I will have a talk to you about what you could do...Glenn...

If you had any experience with cyclone coding I would swap you some work for some pigs and buff in the top end. Ah well..

There is no state hunting licence for QLD. All hunting is done on private property, so you need to knock on doors to get access or talk to people that you know who have friends and relatives that own properties

You should also look at getting your NSW R licence from the NSW Game council, it's only a hop skip and a jump over the boarder to some state forests you can hunt in.
