Well with a few hours to kill this arvo I decided to hook up the tinny and head off up the river with the missus to see if i could nail a few sootys on lures to unwind from a busy week.
On arrival to the launching spot it seemed had the whole river to ourselves which is not unusual at this spot.
So I drop the tinny in and park the Toyota. As Im walking back I realize I hadn't put the bloody bungs in. "Boats I know boats". Bugga.. I race down and put them in and then back the trailer down to lift it out of the water to drain it. Needed a wash inside anyway. That sorted and the tinny back in the drink we are ready to see what changes have happened since the floods a month or so back.
I put the electric up front while the Yammy is warming up, Then its a 15 min run up to our favorite sooty spot on the river. The water temp is 24deg and very clear so Im hopeful of a fish or two. Its overcast with light showers of rain now and then.
Second cast and Im on.These little buggas fight unreal for there size. The fish smoked me and after untangling the line from the snag he made it back to all I managed to retrieve was the lure.

Next cast and Im on again. But this time I managed to keep the fish out of his little hidey hole. Im using a 2 to 4kg Strudwick spin stick with 6lb braid and 12lb leader and a little 2500 Shimano Sahara reel.

So for the next hour and a half I had a ball landing 5 sootys, loosing 4 others to the timber and seen half a dozen more cruzing the shallows. I love sight casting to these fish.
ON AGAIN
