Just received a nice happy b'day (forgotten myself) message from BDU and my response was:

"he he.
thanks a lot.
after shooting (new rifle - quite a buzz as never had a real rifle outside
.22 before) a 12pt wild WA elk 2 weeks back the bangstick stuff is all
outta my system now, and it's back to the recurve and 'real' hunting again
thanks."

only been into hunting (fishing before) less than 5yrs back and getting a centrefire 7 months back had me put the bow aside (catch up on some critters like that big wild elk) until now. so i'm back.

went out yesterday with mate Smithy (see attached pic of wild WA red he got 2 weeks back) and we saw a few foxes (playing and maybe mating or something strange at present, as not interested in whistle) and 4 reds. pretty hard bowhunting turf we hunt in, as no cover and all open outside a few spots.

now i'm carring 'curve again i can give smithy back a bit of 'stick' (literally) with his 'pound like he did me for a while carrying that .308.

glad to be back.

thanks adam and thnaks for your personal help of course - very hard to get started as you know.

i'd like to think so EcoMuse, i know all the secret lbg fishing spots and i'm getting there with hunting - i know of about 15 pockets of wild WA red, fallow and rusa and hopefully they'll become more than pockets and more well known to all in near future.

funny about the 'dark side' rudy, but is it only me or do the game pic's in BDU (latest one a mind-blower) knock for six both Sporting Shooter/Guns Game mag's or what?? seems like the bowhunters are scoring all the trophies and top animals in Oz if mag's anything to go by, and shooters getting left for dead in comparison!!! good stuff hey.

Hawkeye, theres nothing wrong with being passionate about both sports mate. Its all about being happy. For me they both make me happy. I use to love shooting, but no longer shoot, or even own a gun......or a license, i let it expire.
I love bowhunting for the lack of red tape bull**** that surrounds shooting, as well as plenty of other reasons and challenges.
Its great to see blokes like yourself that just enjoy the outdoors, like me. Fishing is my passion, followed by bowhunting, camping, photography, etc...etc...
Great photo of the red too.

it was a fun stalk to watch Spidey - Smithy got this one (WA) 2 years back.

reckon he'd trade 'em all for the big elk i shot though, and at this very moment he's leopard crawling up in the Perth Hills chasing one of the 8pointers i left him. be chasing them with curve on Tuesday myself.
