Mate while i love to support anything Aussie i must admit that ive found cabellas to be fantastic.I bought a pair of pac boots from there 2 weeks ago.I ordered them friday afternoon and took them off our truck at my work depot here in Armidale on tuesday morning(i did pay $54 freight though).even with the most expensive freight rate i still only paid $215 delivered and im stoked with the boots.they have some great camo gear aswell....Damo

I never have much luck online, always seem to pay tax on the way in.:( But I have bought boots from the US. Rocky hunting boots. Best boots I have used, other then the big hole in the top they where actually waterproof.:)
3Rivers are really good for the trad gear. Never been let down by them once and had the gear at my door within 6 days of paying. Sipsey river is a awesome online shop for Gold Tip blem shafts got 2 doz 5575 for $120AU to my door again in under a week.

No doubt about it, buying from the US will save you $$ on occasion.
Just remember that if you purchase anything from the US you will be sending it back to the US for any warrenty work needed on it. And this includes bows...

Just out of interest, if I a bow mail order from an Australian company, won't I still have to pay for postage and mail it back to them for any warranty work?
We all don't have physical access to the good shops.

With the amount of money you save, even if you had to send it back for a warranty isssue, you will still be out in front.
Cabela's and bass pro are great, as are some of the ebay shops.
Don't buy from bowparts. I split an order with someone last october. Nice people, but they've sent 4 parcels to try and get an order correct, and we're still waiting on another one-the final one?

Michael,
We do things a bit differently in my shop.
I have the customer pay for the bow to be shipped to me. If when it reaches my shop I find that it is warrenty work I then reinburse the postage back to the customer, be it in $$ or goods, whichever the customer prefers. I dont feel it is right to make a customer pay for something that is no fault of thiers...

I buy just about all my high end outdoor gear from the states. I do 2 orders per year, one winter and one summer. Usually I go at least halves in the shipping with family or friends. Gear works out at around half the price.
I use:
www.Backcountry.com (http://www.Backcountry.com)
www.SierraTradingPost.com (http://www.SierraTradingPost.com)
Never had any issues, service is very prompt
I bought a range finder from the states and saved a little over $200.00. I do however try and support the Australian dealers as much as possible. But i'm not on a big wage, and $200 is a lot of money too me, so if i have to buy from them to save that much i will.
On your saving of $400.00 i would make sure i found someone who has delt with this company before you hand over your hard earned. Sometimes if it seems too good too be true, it probably is too good too be true.
Hope everything goes well.
I would go for it;) have dealt with the likes of basspro, cabela's, 3 rivers, kustom king, reelsmart to name a few and the way the ozzy dollar is at present you will be miles in front:D Just an example, I purchased several high end barra and deep jigging reels from the states at less than half the price I could them here in darwin:confused: and they were on my doorstep in jabiru in less than 5 days:o anything I need as far as arrows, glues, fletching etc all comes from archerymart still though as brian has been good to me for 15yrs now so he still gets my buisness :Das far your main concern goes for price difference don't be to alarmed at the difference as many things you buy from the states will have you saveing often big $$$$ on what you can get them for here in OZ:(

mate i know the sight well as three friends of mine ordered through them, all of which had trouble with them (Hunters Freind) that is. One order took about 4 months, one order got mailed to Canada instead of Australia and lost, the other one came in and the other part of the order never arrived. I wouldnt use Hunters Friend.
Cabelas is quite a good store but you pay heavilly on shipping with them. YOu will find you will only save money on large items like a bow, you will find stuff like arrows cost more from them by the time you add on large shipping costs for small items.

Nice and cheap and fantastic service second to none. Never have they sent a wrong order or messed up with shipping. Mark always seems to go out of his way to get my orders to me asap. For example I recently recieved my new bow on my doorstep in 8 days for $42 shipping. I highly recomend them.
