Have used a Nikon 440 from day dot bowhunting and it is an excellent bit of gear. First thing checked after release and bow. very small and compact and very accurate with long battery life. Haven't changed mine yet

I use a Leopold RX II rangefinder, works very well, good optics lots of functions.

The Nikon 440 is very good unit, simple very quick and accurate, no fuss no frills just works, I would pick one of these two models you wont be let down by either.

I bought my Nikon 440 from optics planet http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-rangefinders.html

175 buks plus postage. (I also bought a garmin etrex H for 99 bucks) it did take a couple of weeks but the savings where worth it

Cheers

Ive got the same and think its great for bowhunting ,but it seems not to work as well at rifle ranges anymore Ive had it nearly 2years i think, might be just the battery (it still appears to be full) or maybe Im a little hard on it??? still its very handy while bow hunting

Probably out of the price range, but I have a pair of Leupold RFB 800 rangefinding binoculars.

These are a combination of a quality rangefinder and a pair of 8x40 binoculars.

Excellent all-round optics but a bit more expensive than the Nikkon.

I've got the Leupold RXII range finder and love it .Using it alongside another brand (Nikon) I personally (and others) found the image brighter.
I purchased mine last year through Ebay buy now seller 123knorr in the US. It cost about $285 AU and took 1 week to turn up. Top people to deal with and would recommend them to everyone.
Whatever you get your going to have a lot of fun and it's a good learning tool to use when you judge distances.

Cheers Shane
