Hay all,

Just thought I would ask about what kind of camo most of you use. I have seen the american camo and they sim to go all out, but I noticed that some people can be really laid back with camo. I saw a photo of someone stalking a goat with brown cargo pants and a australian short sleeve camo t shirt.

Also does the camo vary if you are stalking or stationary?

Cheers,

Nathan

I personally use a full 3d suit with matching camo'd martin hat and brown leather boots, depending on what im stalking (deer for 1) i will auscam my face as well.

well obviously the more and better camo you have the better success rate you will have... which should mean that everyone should have all the pro stuff from head to toe. but some people just really dont worry about it too much... i've seen people hunt in bright blue jeens.

what is more important is what you wash those clothes in.

Camo only works best when you are still, how many tree like creatures to you ever see walking around? thats just my 2 cents thoe. (exculding thoe smily deer in thick bush that ghost away :o)

If im after game birds in NZ i find the more camo the better, but thats not bowhunting.

Stalking bunnies n hares i just run around in any thing as most of the shots i find i get is when you surprise the thing and they just sit there trying to look like a rock.

Hoofed animal (correct me if im wrong) only see black and white and they can see UV light which we carnt pick up. So i just try and cover myself avoiding high UV colours like blue. I always have a face mask in my pocket for the close up stalks thoe as i find they work a treat.

Personally i think wind direction is the biggest concern other than how your dressed.

arr yes thats very important!

So many powders hav UV brighteners in them which makes camo near useless if used.

more is not better aussat is good.Deer see in shades of grey so blue pink black dosnt matter clothes with splotches about hand size is enough .tan work clothes with black sploches or stripes work just as good as anything
and as ding said smell is more important before a hunt dont smoke clean your teeth with toothpast or use soap /deoderant and stay down wind is more important.P.S make sure your cloths are well aired befor putting on.

half dose of organic eucalyptus woolwash and store with some gum leaves.

No phosphates reduce the UV glow that commercial detergents produce.

But as danceswithdingoes said all the cammo in the world won't help if you was them in the wrong was. Many animals can see into different light spectrum than we do and if you wash you gear with products with certain chemicals it can make you standout like a lite up sign to animals. so there is more to just how much camo you have on.
