I just bought a nice dozen of Eastern Full metal jackets and i failed to mention that i wanted inserts so i could screw in my field tips and broadheads, so they glued them in (what i think is araldite).
How can i loosen the glue to take the field tip out to put in a insert and a screwable field tip in WITHOUT wrecking the arrow?

Mate heat the tip not the arrow (dont over heat)they will pull out with a pair of pliers.

,best play it safe and go back to the shop

Hi,
Another way is to drop a drill bit down inside the shaft and flick it. make sure you keep a eye on it they can fly a fair way.

You shouldn't have to specify that you want inserts in FMJ's, they come in a pack with the inserts and glue, if the shop are preparing the arrows for you this should include gluieng in the H.i.T. inserts. Sounds very strange if the shop has glued field points straight into them, pretty dodgy thing to do with such expensive shafts. Are you sure they're not just screwed in tight or something?? If they have been araldited in, I don't think heat will help, I thought that would only loosen them if they've used hot melt. That would be even more dodgy!

what Pete said, make sure that the inserts arent already installed as they sit inside the shafts and are not visible outside the shaft. The best way Ive seen to remove inserts from carbon/alloys is to turn a hotplate on the stove , let it heat up, place the arrow point down on the hotplate and after a minute or so you shold be able to remove the point with a pair of pliers. This way you dont apply flame/heat to sensitive carbon.

thats what i do and it works well.
dan.
I just heated up the tip of a field point while It was only screwed I half way and then puled it with a pair of pliers and that worked fine fore me and their was no damage to the arrow.
