Advice?
Practice a heap more before you go!!!
Dude please do not take this the wrong way but this is your first bow, and I do not think one week is enough practice before chasing game...

Don't rush your first shot, take your time get close and make it count.
Same as XT, practice heaps before you go.
Broadheads sharp.
Above all, have fun.

well i guess im kinda lucky that my mate enan has a shack there, 140ach of bush land with swamps and dams.
First hunt?
Get in close. Then when you think you are close enough. Get in closer.
Do not be tempted to take anything but a broadside or quartering away shot.
Make sure you know where the lungs and heart are.
If your shot is not perfect and the animal starts to run off do not jump out from behind cover and chase it! Wait. Let what damage has been done take effect. Chances are if the animal is not pushed or frightened he will stop soon. If you jump out and scare it, that adrenaline pump through his system may see him run faster for longer......
Don't forget, it does not always go perfectly like on the DVDs. Your job as an ethical hunter is to do all that you can to try and make that kill as clean as possible.
Good luck mate.
Great post mate, some really good advice.!

well i just got back form the two day hunt, did not see a single pig. we did see a little bit of sign, few rubs, rooted up ground and one wallow. it was going pretty slow so we decided to build this baby

and looking down

all this building took four hours including carrying all the bamboo from 5min away
this was built in a intersection of game paths. wallow to the left, running creek behind, solid path to the right and what looks liek a big feeding area straight ahead.
fingers crossed for next time

Shooting from an elevated stand is different from shooting at a target on the same level as you.
If it is possible I would suggest you practice.
For example did you know that if the animal is directly under you that you use your longest distance pin?
Angles can make distance judging a bit tricky.
Good Luck...

I have found with my bow it doesn't matter, if im at 36m on the side of a hill looking straight down which i was at Bacchus marsh, i use my 36m pin and the jobs done i hit the 20.
Good on you guys it looks as though your going to have a great time learning a heap out there, I hope the game shows up for you. Any time spent in the bush is going to be quality learning time!!!.
