In early April my Brother mark and I hunted the Red Stags of the Brisbane Valley for 4 days. We had an excellent time and saw a fair few deer and a couple of good stags. We both had oportunities at Stags with me being at full draw on a 4 x 3 within 10 mins of our first hunt, but I couldn't get the shot away before the wind gave us up.
Mark shot and lost a great looking stag at 8 yards after I called him in, but after about 6 hours of searching over two days we couldn't find him. I got a great bit of footage though.
Even though I didn't shoot a red stag I did take a hind for meat with one arrow, she only made it 35 yards and 20 of that was sliding down the hill.
Looking forward to next year when we will try to hunt a little earlier as the roar was closing down when we where there.
