I left home thismorning at about 7:30 looking for some rabbits around some old holes. I didnt find ANY rabbits but i did find some extremely fresh dropings.
What time should i be out looking for the rabbits on a morning feed?

testerday i headed out at about 6 30am and they were everywhere but i have also headed out at 7 30am and seen a fair few. rabbits feed from late arvo through the night and into early morning before they go back down their holes or find a nice grass clump or small blackberry bush etc they can hide in.

good luck.

When theyre around, i find you get them all day, just moreso late in the evening and early in the morning.
In the cooler months, mid afternoon can be a good time when they come out and sun themselves.
Problem here at the moment is that there is bugger all rabbits, and the few that are around are getting knocked over by mixo. There is a lot of mixo around this area at the moment.
Mid winter, when theres a lot more green grass, and into spring as the days start to warm up is when they are most proliffic around here in NE victoria.

I've found the Rabbit's down my way to be more active around late afternoon. I haven't been out at night looking for them.

i cant wait until they have kittens, the young ones are so easy to shoot its such good fun going out and getting a handful each hunt. shouldn't be too much longer, just need a bit more rain.

do bunnies breed all year round dan?

nah mate, i find around winter is when the rabbits breed around here, most likely because there is so much food for them and twice as much cover then what there is in the hotter months. about 2-3 months ago i saw a handful of kittens up the road but since then i haven't seen any. mixo nocked all my rabbits around a fair bit but now im lucky to see one with the disease.

i went out again thismorning at about 6:30 and still no luck :( but this time i decided to search somewhere new, i knew that there were holes in the paddock but they were all very old and unused. anyway, i didnt find any bunny's there either. on my way out i noticed a sign that was stappled to a fence post saying,

Pindone Poisoning
Carrot bait containing the
above poison has been laid to controll
rabbits
for a period of 21 days.
Unrestained pets may be at risk

The date that had been written on the sheet has been washed off by last nights rain so i'm not to sure when it started but i think that is why i havnt been able to find any rabbits lately :(
