bunnys getting wise

do all you rabbit shooters out there find that if you hit a particular area regularly that the bunnys get wise to your actions?

where i go is only a small property with limited approaches to get shots at em and ive found lately that they are getting smart , where i used to get off 4 or 5 or more shots in an arvo im only getting 1 or 2 now.There is still heaps of rabbits about but im sure the little pricks are getting wise.

what do you all think?

definatly mate. rabbits catch on quite quickly after they have been shot at they will become more alert. there is a piebald bunny (brown and white) up the road from me, i could once get to 10-20m no worries but it would never present the right shot. i finally got 3 shots away at it over a couple of weeks and i even missed from 10m:o. anyway it has become so smart, toey that i cant get within 70m of the bloody thing without it running down its hole not even stopping for a second look. there is no way im ever going to get him now so i dont bother:(.

It's the same with all animals, if they get hunted often then they will be alot harder to shoot.

This is where [hunting] comes into it as a kid i shot in the same place for 10 years when animals get sneaky so do you, stalk your pray after awhile you'll find you can get close , i did alot of hunting in open padocks and saltbush plains still do and in over 40 years hunting its never gotten any easyer .

I think they do get smarter I used to be able to walk down the back of my place and see 20 or so rabbits farley far from their burrows and they only feed around their holes so they are really hard to stalk and eventually the numbers started to drop and they weren’t in the area anymore so I think the hunting pressure pushed them out

Hell yeah they do. Back in my gun shooting days, this was known as being gunshy.
Rabbits are probably the most nutorious for it, and so are woodducks.
