About 6 months ago my son decided to take his FITA target archery seriously. He set the National Junior Archery Championships as a goal. His goals were to train 5 times a week and then to go to the Nationals and learn as much as possible so it would set him in good stead for the Nats in 09. Anyway to cut a long story short we went to Adelaide and he won the target competition and got a Silver in the field. He also set two PB's and set two Championship records a 346 at 45meters and 353 at 25...360 is the max you can score.
I am very proud of his achievements and the way he conducted himself at the Nats.

WOW what an awesome acheivement for him!!!
He must be very head strong to acheive something like that so quickly. He'll do excellent in the sport.
A huge congratulations are in order for him!!!
I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Rin and his son the morning they were heading home.
All I can say is that for some one with so much talent with the bow he is/was very humble about his achievments (Rins son that is);)
I say as father and Son you both have much to be proud of.
Congrats and all the best with your future comps.

Congrats Rin and Son. Is that the Intermediate round he shot? I'm certain he will never forget his first arrow after the practise end, and the last of the round. You should be proud!

You have every right to be proud. It takes a lot of effort and sacrifice on your behalf to provide him with the opportunity to be there.
Congratulations to you both.

Yep its the intermediate round 55,45,35 and 25. He is already shooting at 90m and beating quite a few of the adults in the club.

well done!
rin did you teach him to shoot?
No I didn't teach him we learn t together. He both have the same coach a guy called Steve Jennison. Steve started many of the programs used at the AIS and managed and coached the Australian archery team that competed at the Atlanta Olympics. Steve's daughter Melissa competed at 2 Oylmpics he coached her for many years before she went on to the AIS.
I see too many relationships come unstuck because of parents coaching kids etc so i choose t0 keep out of the coaching side of things. I want my son to have the best thats also why Steve coaches him and not me.:P My son says that archery between us is a team sport I buy his gear and he shoots it.;)
Well done to Rin Jr.
It seems your blood flows strong in his veins. Lucky he got his mothers looks though.
