just got myself a property to hunt holding good numbers of red dear, just wanted to know what month the roar commences and what month it ends? up until now pigs, dingoes, cats and foxes have been my only game apart from the odd scrub bull but now i'm really into the deer scene so any info would be great.
G,day Baconbuster
Good to hear you are going to take up the challenge of deer hunting with a bow.
I hunt the Brisbane Valley each year and find that the deer generally roar for approximately 4 weeks, the last two weeks in march through tothe first two weeks in april. However i have found that temperature plays an important part in how vocal the stags are often a cold snap can really get them fired up. For example the 2005 roar in my area was quite late due to high temperatures . The stags kept very quiet until a cold change in early april.
Hope this helps good luck and keep us posted on how you go.
Gavin.
You lucky bugger BB05. Best of luck with the future hunts there.
