Hi All
I would just like to let everyone know about a fund raising event that is going on at the moment. Its for Camp Quality, I would imagine most of you would have heard about the great work that Camp Quality does for sick Children. They are looking to raise $90,000 with the view of sending all their Kids to a Ski Camp in 2009.
To achieve this they have organised a group of 18 people to walk the Kokoda Trail over a 7 day period. The trek will be covered by several Television networks and in addition to donations from the general public they are offering businesses the opportunity to advertise on the back packs of the participants. A full pack advert will cost $4,000 and a half pack advert will cost $2,000. Offcourse if you want to make a donation any amount will help and all donations over $2 are Tax Deductible.
I became aware of this because my Dad, Garry Clements, is one of the people doing the trek. When he first told me about it I though that old age was getting the better of him and that he had finally lost his marbles. I then thought about why he was doing it and my thoughts turned to my own kids and how devastating it would be, God Forbid, if one of my Children became seriously or even terminally ill.
Camp Quality helps bring a little sunshine into the lives of children who are going through an otherwise bleak time in their lives.
So if there are any members out there with an advertising dollar to spend on their business, I can’t think of a better way to get some positive exposure and help a great cause in the process, or if you just want to pass the hat around at work or throw a few bob in yourself then that’s great to.
If you would like further information on the Camp Quality or the Kokoda Trek then follow the link bellow to Camp Qualities website were you can read all about it and down load a printable donation form.

For anyone that is interested, the Kokoda trek for camp quality has been completed. All participants made it in one piece, apparently the only injury was a broken rib obtained by one of the trekers while playing footy with the Fuzzy Wuzzies.
Camp quality has managed to raise well in excess of the $90000 they required for the kids trip to the snow next year.
Congratulations to all the Treckers and all who contributed.

Great to hear that the kids will be having a fun trip to the snow.................even if they will be freezing their butts off:P

I like hearing about things like this happening to people that truely deserve it.

Hey Clemo,

How olds ya Oldman, from what Ive heard and seen on tele about the trek its a Humdinger!!! Many younger Fit blokes have tried and failed!!! Good on him, and all for one of the most important causes of them all!!!!

He is 56 Darren, got more go in him than me! He said it was tough physically and mentally but well worth doing just to get an idea of what our diggers had to endure.
He said he would do it again if I would do it with him. I asked, "Can I take my Bow"? Now that would be a backpack hunt to remember!:P
One of the guy's on the trek was 67 I think.:o
As you said, Good on em!
