I think Ebay is making a big mistake with the new rules comming in next month...no more direct debit payments..everything must be paypal or C.O.D.pickup only.
This may make it worse for Aussies selling online..with the convienience of direct deposit taken away and being forced to use paypal, customers may as well buy offshore while the dollar is booming and US is sliding...Adding to this sellers are no longer allowed to leave neutral or negative feedback...leaving them a sitting duck.
I have been selling over the net for a couple of years..and buy daily from it..but my last sale will probably be just that..my last sale!

i agree, i think paypal is not very good and would much prefer direct bank deposit, i sold a motorbike on ebay a few weeks back and it went for 2 and a half grand, the guy paid by paypal and paypal took 90 something dollars out of it, let alone the ebay fees too.

Yep..I dont use credit and dont have a card...and i bank cba who dont have debit card facility(to make you use credit)...under the old rule, after a short period of paying via bank funded paypal and waiting for it to clear(4-5 days)..You were then granted instant paypal payment..before clearing....this has been taken away now,and unless i nominate a credit card with paypal as backup you have to wait 4-7 days to put $ into p/p account before paying...or paying immediately and waiting 7 to 11 days before it clears to sellers account...which causes friction....so i have to keep money in there to shop efficiently...This new way enables ebay/paypal to refund $ to disgruntled buyers without question, and just bill it to the seller...its becoming a real scam..and ebay will commit suicide if they do it world wide..and people are aware of the new dangers.

If you ever sell anything on ebay again make sure you put in your payment details that a 3% fee will be charged to the buyer for using paypal. There is no reason you should have to pay the fees...

Gotta be better than a South African/ Russian scam company gaining access to your bank details because you gave a stranger your account details and them taking the whole lot of your money out and then using your bank details to create a credit card account and putting you in thousands of dollars debt with out you even knowing about it...... It happens all the time
A friend of mine recommended www.oztion.com
It's an aussie site in the e-bay style of online auction.
It's obviously not as big as ebay but already has over 600,000 items and isn't making stupid rules about paypal.
Jono.

My favourite achery/hunting supplier on ebay (Tenzone) is moving over to Oztion very soon. Said he is going because he refuses to go to Paypal and wants to stick with direct deposit.

Ebay does own paypal...and their rep said on tv that under the new rules ebay/paypal would have full disclosure on both buyers and sellers....in other words they will have us by the nuts...not to mention the intrest they will acrue on the multi millions they are holding to clear.
