Hi all
Just home from an overnighter to a new property in the Perth Hills that holds a few pigs. Was damn freezing overnight, woke this morning to -1 degrees and a swag covered in ice, it does get chilly every so often in Perth
Heres a couple of pics (these were taken after I got back from a morning hunt, and things were still icy....)

Heres a pic of my swag (yep thats the roof of the fourby, I sleep up on the rack when out bush, best spot I recon). When I first woke the whole damn thing was covered in frost, no wonder I was a little chilly!!)

As for the pigs...well, they ARE there, plenty of fresh sign, diggings and prints but as the property is boarded on 2 sides by a massive area of state forest (that I know has good amounts of pigs) I guess its going to be a case of right place and right time as they seem to pass through this property rather than hang out on it. Still, its a work in progress ;)

I plan to keep working this property over the next few months as the rains keep the ground wet....who knows, maybe I will get lucky. I'll be sure to throw another blanket in the swag next trip however ;)
Cheers
Crikey mate, you can have that! :P
It's a lovely 28 degrees over here, with a few spring/summer storms rolling around.
Gonna be a shock to be in the hills hunting/camping when I get home in a month :o
Nice pics thanks for sharing :D

Yeah Luke it was a shock to the system, having just returned home from the Kimberly!!
By the way, the arrows in the shot are wrapped with the Voodoos you did up for me, they look a million bucks IMHO :)

Hiya Eco, I got relo's in the York/Berverly area. Anywhere near where you went? I know that there are rabbits there as I used to shoot em with the .22 when I was a kid. I'm guessing fox's would have moved in by now as well so maybe pigs as well?

Hiya Derek
Mate you are almost SPOT ON location wise...however I have not seen sign of rabbits. I know rabbits exist some 15Km south (Ive spooked a few bushwalking) but this property doesnt seem to hold much game at all. The pigs just pass through rather than actually stop....just a matter of right place and right time I guess. But yes mate, your relos would almost be neighbours!!!!

If you like mate, I can slip you his name and you can try on his property. I haven't seen him in quite a few years but I'm sure that if he cant provide you with some game, maybe he can put you onto someone who can. The farm has apparently grown quite substantially since I was a kid. Let me know and I'll pm you the details. One place I never thought would carry pigs was good ol' Beverley LOL. I've been hunting further up north around Geraldton and the Murchison for goats and my brother put me onto a property that had pigs but it had recently flooded so to much water to bring them out. Like you, lots of sign but no actual sighting.
Anyway good luck, keep the bow bent. I'll give you a call next time I'm over there. Will bring some XXXX, can't drink that Emu p*ss anymore LOL

Was that the same spot you put me onto? You have some great grounds up there mate...those bl00dy big scrug cattle put the wind up me though, something Im certainly not used to!
As for my pigs down here, I am putting all your advice to good use and I think its now just a matter of putting in the hours.

ive got a property around there too Eco, that is one area the pigs really seem to move around. I heard the other day Calm trapped 18 on one property there in a week a few weeks back.
anyway keep at it while their digging fresh, hopefully they dont get scared off by someone and youll get a crack at one, cant wait to see you first pics.

Oh, you and me both Ian!!!!!! I really think I have the area sussed...now its just time and place (and of course a half way accurate shot!!).
Yes Eco, same area within a km or so. I cheated the other day and parked my car on the firebreak and sat on the roof rack waiting for a mob to come through the hole in the fence. Well , the result was one small boar nailed from the roof of the Prado from 28 metres. My own portable (tree) stand! was funny stuff.
Hurry up Ian, the hogs are all back in their usual haunts now and Im hot on their lil piggy tails!!
Goodluck eco, cant wait for your photos mate.
