G'day Guys,

I am a new member to this site, I have been into bowhunting for over 13 years, but unfortunately have not been a member of the ABA for around ten years due to work commitments. I have a checkmate takedown Hunter recurve, running at 65lbs.

I have been looking into getting a crossbow, and was wondering if any members to this site have a crossbow, i have researched the barnett predator AVI, this thing is awesome with a speed of 375fps for a 425grain bolt.
Does anyone know of a Barnett dealer in Australia.
Any help would be appreciated.

G'day mate and welcome aboard.

I can't offer any advice on the particulars of any X bows, but do advise you look closely into the relevant laws in your state (?) as they differ depending on where you are.

X bows are easier to obtain and own in some states than others.

Good luck with it, be sure to let us know how you get on.

cheers,

Luke :D

Welcome Darkside...Luke has great advise..as allways...i would check the regs before spending the money...i may be wrong, but i wouldnt imagine you could hunt with them in NSW without big dramas???...im told the few that are licensed to shoot target have to be chained to a post while you retrieve arrows:o to prevent them being stolen??...this may or may not be true...so do your research;)

I live in WA and at the moment they are a controlled weapon, so you do not need a licence, but need a genuine purpose to want to own one.I have thought about a compound but with the technology nowadays, release aids, sights etc, there really isn't much difference between a crossbow and compound. Both are shooting around the same fps, the only thing is that a crossbow is a little easier to master. And with having a shoulder injury that reoccurs every now and then it will keep me hunting and shooting arrows. The other option i have is a rifle, and that brings in a whole lot of other issues.
