Gday all im mike from victoria and i am really keen to get into bow hunting have been doing alot of research on hunting and bows and would love to get into it. But would like some advice on a good bow to get i would like to get into deer hunting and no of the draw weight laws and such so 50lb or higher is a must. i have been looking at the relfex growler for a starting bow that i can also use for hunting when i am ready what are your thoughts on this bow. looking forward to your replies guys. thanks

Well mate welcome to the site.
Have you done any bow shooting at all,if not consider the fact you may not be able to draw a 50lb bow to start with.
and if you could you may develop bad habits TRAINING on to high a poundage.
be smart and try to get to a local archery range and have a go with a 20/30lb recurve see what hapens.
Dont be swayed by a lot of talk about high speeds and fast cams thats for later on in your shooting career.

Where abouts in Melb mate, you should drop into a ABA, AAA or hunting biased archery club and try some gear before you decide. There are a few around Melb. I am a member of Lilydale Bowmen, in the basin (eastern suburbs), we have club bows you can try and coaches to help.

thanks for the advice guys im down in hoppers crossing there is a archery shop with a 18yd range across the road from my work and they supply recurve bows for practice so i shall go down there and give them a go.
