If you havent worked it out yet..this thread is about correct release aid use...
As an archer in training..ive been taught the correct way to use wrist strap style releases...putting the first finger over the trigger and pulling back till your hand tightens(back tension release)..giving a "surprise" release...takes a lot of practice..but gives consistent results on target...not too hard to master on a range..but im still having difficulty maintaining this when hunting...hearts thumping..target is moving etc....so i find im tending to punch/pull the trigger rather than back tension...how many of you guys actually manage to back tension release on game??...and if so..have you got any good tips you would like to share;)

What i do is instead of using back tension release i pull back from up high using my back muscles then i squeeze my hand closed, then you don't punch the trigger.

90% of people will admit that they are pullers - the other 10% are liars

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was the only one .

But seriously, I am a puller. As long as I back tension I can squeeze off a good shot.

Can do it correctly at the range if I concentrate, but each time an animal has been in the sights I admit to timing/anticipating the release. Acuracy doesn't seem to have suffered so I have given up on the surprise release, for the moment....

Stroker. Grrrrr.....
Took about 4,8765 years of blank-bale practise to overcome a concious release (release and fingers). It won't happen overnight- but it will happen!
Still have to maintain this part of form more than any other or the old habit will resurface.
