Well peoples,

After a fairly hectic last couple of months i am off to the high country bow in hand monday. I'll be between 1000-1300m hoping to be just below the snowline for 3 days. I'll be carrying my trusty longbow (76lb@28") with its new flemish string, feather fletched black mamba 400's and single beville 160gn Outbacks. I will post photos an story on return. I am hoping and guessing being in gods country getting away from it all with no pressure will be a real blessing and a reset to the system.

After being the rep for a well known hunting clothing company i have a lot of the gear required, Bivvy Bag, Thermals, etc, and having hunted hard over the last few weeks i'm in pretty good nick. I'll be putting some of this NZ gear to the test really hardcore so to speak...... here's hoping i have a few good hunts, nothing has to become food as they say.... just being there is the key.

Speak soon all,

SSGA

Best of luck Chris. I do hope you do get that stress relief. Nothing does it better than having a bow in hand and having to figure how the hell you are going to pull off a shot to take your thoughts from anything else.

Nah mate, didn't invite anyone except my mum (that is the truth), nominated camper/driver. She will stay at base camp whilst i do a hell of a lot of walking and contemplating ALONE. Have taken a lot of newbies out over the past few weeks which in my opinion allows me some personal hunting time.......... ;)

At first thought it was 3 days but have decided to take extra just in case. Remember will have my mum at base camp so need a little extra comforts....... she is an outdoors lady and has a Winebago ie "grey nomad" travels all over (telling me about the deer she sees), so will be good to catch up.

Should i blame her? She is the one who got me started on this deer hunting caper!
